Indicative Ships Most Complete Service Delivery Management Solution Available

Indicative 8.0 Now the Only Fully-Integrated Product Available to Provide IT Investment Protection While Fostering Even Higher Service-User Satisfaction and Productivity

FORT COLLINS, Colo., April 10 -- Indicative Software today announced immediate availability of Indicative 8.0, the only single-product enterprise management solution today to deliver all of the capabilities needed to effectively manage massive, distributed enterprises from end to end for optimal service delivery.

Indicative has again leveraged the seamless extensibility of its unified architecture to add powerful new capabilities in a single, cohesive product. No other vendor similarly delivers Indicative's breadth of enterprise management capability; the closest competitors require users to buy anywhere from eight to 15 products to achieve the same measure of capability.

"C-level executives, starting with the CIO, continue to internalize the value of IT-driven services and the critical contributions those services make to the success of their respective businesses," said Jasmine Noel, principal of Ptak, Noel Associates. "By focusing on service delivery optimization, Indicative is positioning its solution as a key component in linking IT activities with business value."

Indicative 8.0 now includes the ability to monitor from the perspective of individual service users with a real-user monitoring (RUM) add-on, which allows IT managers to more easily isolate and troubleshoot a given problem. Version 8.0 also includes application performance management (APM) of increasingly pervasive .NET environments, adding to its breadth of APM capabilities for J2EE, Citrix and SAP environments. The solution also provides new and unique capabilities for creating user-defined, re-usable test templates to tailor monitoring for their custom services and IT environment, providing a powerful new way for users to extend their use of Indicative. Enhanced auto-discovery for applications and supporting IT infrastructure, plus a crisp new user interface for added ease of use round out the major new features in 8.0.

Indicative is addressing the need to manage enterprise IT environments in a way that optimizes their ability to deliver critical services. Such IT-driven, Web-accessible services range from those used within a company (i.e. corporate email, HR benefits management, inventory management) to customer-facing services (online bill pay, purchasing, reservations, etc.). With Indicative 8.0, a company that depends upon IT to deliver such services can optimize service quality from the user perspective. This not only fosters user satisfaction, but improves productivity and customer retention.

8.0 Features

Real user monitoring and troubleshooting

Indicative's "real-user" monitoring (RUM) is a major addition in 8.0 that comes as an integrated option to the core product. Indicative RUM is a powerful, synergistic complement to the product's existing synthetic (or robotic) user transaction monitoring capability. RUM proactively measures actual end-user experiences to pinpoint and isolate problems in concert with synthetic measurements. Unlike competing products, Indicative's RUM is a fully-integrated feature of a cohesive, end-to-end monitoring product. As such, it presents data within the same service model context as the other monitoring elements of the solution. Indicative's RUM monitors for service performance among actual users without the need for massive numbers of remote agents. RUM includes a data collection appliance that is used to store and process the volume of rich data collected by the software, and to provide pre-packaged reporting and analysis.

User-defined templates for ad hoc extensibility

One of the architectural foundations of Indicative's software is the ability to model a service from a library of pre-packaged templates, or "knowledge modules." They include best-practice tests, measurements, and auto-discovery engines that dramatically shorten the time it takes to create a given service model. Indicative's current template library of more than 2,000 measurements accounts for about 90 percent of common IT technologies, but many deployments still need custom elements. Indicative 8.0 provides customers with the means to extend their template library with a GUI-driven template creation capability. User-defined templates can be replicated and shared within their organization, and eventually among other companies with similar services in the Indicative user community. Combined with the latest auto-discovery enhancements, this enables even faster creation of service models used to correlate service-user experience with underlying infrastructure health. No other vendor can provide a comparable equivalent to Indicative's service delivery solution as fast or efficiently thanks to these new capabilities.

.NET monitoring and troubleshooting

Web-based .NET applications are inherently difficult to manage. Indicative 8.0 can now help IT organizations dramatically improve application performance in this highly complex and increasingly pervasive distributed environment. Indicative performs deep-dive troubleshooting into .NET environments from end-to-end, down to the method and SQL statement level. It does so within the context of the end-to-end service being monitored. Indicative 8.0's auto-discovery technology identifies .NET applications and all their associated infrastructure components with the help of innovative drag-and-drop modeling templates that specify the configuration, test and measurement parameters required for optimal .NET application performance. Indicative 8.0 has become a powerful means for IT administrators to proactively avert problems in .NET environments before users can experience any adverse consequences.

"The combination of these new features underscores the power and value of Indicative's cohesive, highly extensible single-product architecture," said Lacy H. Edwards, CEO of Indicative. "No other vendor has a single product that can perform all of the capabilities of Indicative 8.0. The implications of that, when you stop to think about it, are tremendous."

Indicative 8.0 is available today, and is priced on a per-measurement basis. Customers pay only for what they use, not what they don't (there's no "shelfware"). Entry-level installations, including implementation and professional services, typically cost around $100,000, and the average implementation size is around $300,000. Indicative's RUM and .NET monitoring options are each priced starting at $50,000.
