Diebold Launches Agilis® EmPower(TM)

The largest banking group in Singapore implements revolutionary software development technology to strengthen customer relationships

NORTH CANTON, Ohio, May 23 /- Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE:DBD) today launched Agilis® EmPower(TM), a flexible, open, sophisticated software platform that delivers enhanced services to customers and is the next generation technology in the company's Agilis Solutions family. Customers from around the European nation are attending an invitation- only event at Diebold's Customer Conference & Expo in Milan, Italy, and are among the first to experience EmPower's capabilities.

Agilis EmPower's open software, development tools and services change the way financial institutions connect with customers and transact business. Using EmPower, financial institutions have the flexibility to quickly react to changing retail customer needs, while also allowing them to make the most of all banking delivery channels - automated teller machine (ATM), online, branch, phone and teller.

Built on open-standard XML architecture, Agilis EmPower enables financial institutions to easily interchange customer information through all channels, while seamlessly integrating into a financial institution's service-oriented architecture. This access helps financial institutions serve customers better and increase efficiencies through connecting with customers on a more personal level. By strengthening this connection between channels, customers and the financial institution itself, customer needs are quickly and easily responded to, maintaining an institution's competitive edge.

"As competition increases in retail banking, many financial institutions are seeking to capture greater customer wallet share, and they're turning to Diebold to better serve their customers' desires," said Chuck Ducey, Diebold's senior vice president, global development and services. "This requires technology that is fast, easy and flexible, as well as interconnected through all banking channels. Financial institutions that place a high value on relationships with their customers will greatly benefit from the advanced features of Agilis EmPower."

For DBS, a key criterion for its software upgrade was the ability to bring new features and functionality to its ATM network through customizable software that is flexible and robust, yet cost effective. As an existing Diebold customer, DBS relied on Diebold's experience and expertise when selecting Agilis EmPower.

"With the largest ATM network in Singapore, we are committed to bringing out the best of Asian values in new and innovative ways for our customers," said Rachel Yap, managing director, DBS' Consumer Banking Network Operations. "This means enhancing our customers' experience at the ATMs. Through Diebold's software, our customers can enjoy quicker and more user-friendly transactions. We can also customize more exciting new services that will serve our customers all over the region."

Agilis EmPower gives institutions greater flexibility in internal operations, as well. They can rely on Diebold's Professional Services to build transactions by designing, controlling and integrating the features and functions of their self-service networks. Or they can choose to license Diebold EmPower Accelerator software, providing internal IT staff the ability to more easily design transaction flows to instantly and easily respond and react to customer needs and wants.
