Original Press Release:
Emerson Launches AMS(TM) Suite with Asset Portal(TM) to Improve Plant Availability and Performance
Innovative software suite powers PlantWeb® to deliver predictive and proactive maintenance
AUSTIN, TEXAS (October 9, 2003) - Emerson Process Management announces AMS(TM) Suite, an integrated family of software applications for predictive maintenance, performance monitoring and economic optimization. The launch of AMS Suite is spearheaded by Emerson's new web-based Asset Portal(TM) software that consolidates and summarizes all asset information to expedite decision-making. AMS Suite powers PlantWeb® digital plant architecture to increase the availability and performance of production assets for improved bottom-line results.
AMS Suite combines predictive diagnostics with powerful analysis capabilities for mechanical equipment, electrical systems, process equipment, instruments and valves. Emerson promises users a 2% improvement in plant efficiency with PlantWeb, including AMS Suite. There are over 10,000 installations of Emerson's predictive maintenance and optimization applications worldwide delivering proven quantified results with companies such as Dow, BP, Calpine, Thai Oil, Amerada Hess, and SINCOR. AMS Suite extends Emerson's leadership with new levels of functionality and value.
John Moore, GM and VP of ARC Advisory Group, a leader in providing strategic planning and technology assessment services stated, "Emerson has a leadership position in this dynamic space. While there are a number of companies targeting asset optimization, some with the resources to really make things happen, we are watching Emerson closely. Their large and comprehensive Asset Optimization organization, backed by the stability and credibility of Emerson, represents a formidable hurdle for the challengers."
The applications in the AMS Suite are integrated through extensive use of the latest technologies including web services, XML and .NET to create an environment for convenient yet secure access to information. AMS Suite includes:
Asset Portal
Decision-support, reporting and analysis on the health and performance of production assets.
Intelligent Device Manager
Predictive and proactive maintenance of instruments and valves
Machinery Health Manager
Predictive and proactive maintenance through condition monitoring of mechanical equipment
Equipment Performance Monitor
Predictive and proactive maintenance through performance monitoring of process and mechanical equipment
Real-Time Optimizer
Real-time economic optimization of units, plants or multiple facilities based on changing conditions and business constraints
PlantWeb Services support the implementation of AMS Suite and help users maximize the value of their technology investment. The services bring necessary expertise and work processes to integrate technology into existing plant operations. PlantWeb Services include implementation, best practices consultation and ongoing support.
"AMS Suite is unique in the breadth of production assets it is designed to support and the depth of analytical and decision-support capabilities it provides," said Craig Llewellyn, president of Emerson's Asset Optimization division. "Emerson is playing a key role in enabling process manufacturers to realize as much as 5% increase in plant revenues with the AMS Suite and related PlantWeb Services. As an integral part of the PlantWeb architecture, the AMS Suite supports Operator Driven Reliability. PlantWeb Alerts can be routed to those in the organization who need to know when an asset is causing a problem, whether that person is in maintenance, operations or management. This truly drives decision-making for results."
