BEA Ships AquaLogic Service Bus

Designed to Unify Enterprise Service Bus and Service Management Capabilities

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 1 -- BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BEAS) announces general availability of the BEA AquaLogic Service Bus(TM) 2.0 product. A key part of BEA's market-leading Service Infrastructure product family, the AquaLogic Service Bus is designed to help cost-effectively configure, connect and manage services. BEA AquaLogic Service Bus is designed to help accelerate deployment of and to simplify Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) management in heterogeneous environments.

"As businesses strive to be agile, they depend on IT's ability to deliver new services in alignment with business needs. They require an intelligent service infrastructure platform that can help drive reliable integration across an inherently heterogeneous, multi-vendor computing landscape, and can help make enterprise-level service re-use a reality," said Rob Levy, executive vice president, new products strategy, BEA Systems, Inc. "BEA AquaLogic Service Bus is designed to help provide that single foundation for integration and lifecycle management of services across the SOA."

BEA AquaLogic Service Bus is the latest addition to the BEA AquaLogic(TM) Product Family, which is designed to address an emerging sector of enterprise software known as Service Infrastructure. This category can help allow the successful deployment of SOA in business environments by making it possible for services to be discovered, secured, managed and assembled into composite applications and processes -- regardless of the technology.

"BEA AquaLogic Service Bus can help enable our IT groups to successfully manage routing relationships, transformations and policies by incorporating innovative changes due to the convergence between Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and web services," said Jeff Davies, director of architecture and standards, Covad Corporation, a BEA AquaLogic beta customer.

BEA AquaLogic Service Bus is designed to offer intelligent messaging, routing and transformation that can support heterogeneous end-points, combined with capabilities for service registration, monitoring and lifecycle management. It can converge the integration capabilities of an Enterprise Service Bus with operational service management in a single software product, helping to accelerate configuration and deployment and to simplify on-going operations of shared services across the SOA. BEA AquaLogic Service Bus is designed to deliver dynamic routing, protocol brokering and transformation, through a meta-data driven configuration environment that can help accommodate change by removing the management of services from the service end-points themselves, thus creating an agile SOA infrastructure that can be responsive to changing business needs.

BEA Education Services will launch new AquaLogic Service Bus training courses in August and September 2005. For more details, go to education.bea.com/ .

The BEA AquaLogic Product Family is designed to address the entire service lifecycle and manage a fully-deployed SOA across multiple technologies or application platforms whether they are based on Java or .Net. BEA AquaLogic Product Family is designed to enable software services to be composed once and leveraged anywhere (COLA) and can help customers to turn isolated or "frozen" IT assets into Enterprise Liquid Assets and helping to enable them to respond faster to the pace of modern business.
