UGS PLM Solutions Releases New Version of Parasolid®, its Industry-Leading Geometric Modeling Software
Innovations continue to expand modeling and application support capabilities with targeted enhancements in modeling and editing processes and ease-of-use
PLANO, Texas - UGS PLM Solutions, the product lifecycle management (PLM) subsidiary of EDS, today announced the availability of Parasolid® version 15.1, the latest release of its industry-leading geometric modeling component software. Parasolid 15.1 includes new modeling and editing capabilities, enhanced ease-of-use and extended platform support.
Parasolid software provides the geometric modeling foundation for many of the world's leading computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE) applications. UGS PLM Solutions develops Parasolid, uses it throughout its product development applications and licenses it to independent software vendors (ISVs) and end-user organizations on a "level playing field" policy that ensures all licensees have equal access to Parasolid updates and enhancements.

Parasolid enhancements
Parasolid 15.1 is shipping with a broad base of product enhancements designed to extend the ability of Parasolid-based applications to deliver high-value, highly automated modeling processes.

o Blend ease of use - advanced functionality to support order independence and automation of blending operations

Parasolid 15.1 also includes a 64-bit Parasolid version for AMD64/Windows. Currently shipping as a beta-release, this version will be fully supported after the release of Windows XP for AMD64. In addition, new versions of the Parasolid Bodyshop healing technology and Parasolid Translators are available with extended platform support, providing Parasolid customers with a suite of tools for achieving world-class interoperability success.
