Destiny Announces Launch of Clipstream Streaming Video Software

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 22 // -- Destiny Media Technologies (BULLETIN BOARD: DSNY) is pleased to announce the launch of Clipstream Version 3 (http://clipstream.com/). Under development for two years, this next generation software is the best solution for reaching the largest audience simply and securely.

Clipstream is unique in that content owners don't need to buy custom streaming hardware or server software. The video is simply uploaded to an existing website and linked into the page. Site visitors are not required to download or install player software as the video starts instantly and seamlessly. Because the technology is Java based, it works on every operating system that supports Java including 98% of computer users. PDA and cell phone support is expected to be announced next quarter.

Comments Destiny CEO, Steve Vestergaard "Video has become the must have communication tool on the Internet. Now that the majority of the hundreds of millions of Internet users have broadband, they are demanding higher quality video streaming. Clipstream(tm) meets the needs of these more discerning online viewers, while providing a great experience for modem users."

The new proprietary video codec features the ability to scale to full screen at up to thirty frames per second. The dynamic compression technology allows every user to access the video, even at lower bitrates. The technology automatically detects the users' CPU and connection speed and automatically delivers the highest possible video quality. Even at low bitrates and modem speeds, the codec provides a quality user experience.

Other enhancements make the video more convenient for users. Playback can be controlled by keyboard and volume controls for the high fidelity stereo audio are built into the applet menu.

Clipstream(tm) is the safest solution since there is no player that could potentially put a computer at risk. In addition, content owners can lock valuable content to authorized domains using the optional security package.

Competing video solutions require a buffer to fill before video content can be viewed. With Clipstream(tm), users can instantly seek to any point in the video without waiting for the entire video to download. There is no maximum size to a Clipstream(tm) video, so a user could seek to the last five minutes of a two hour movie without waiting for a long download. Because Clipstream(tm) only downloads what is actually viewed and because it is compatible with caching infrastructure, it is the most economical solution for sites that use large amounts of bandwidth.

Clipstream(tm) is the most customizable solution, with extensive lists of features that can be controlled by parameters. Optionally, Javascript can used to link videos together or to create sophisticated interactions with the user or other components on the web page. Because Clipstream(tm) videos are web objects, they can be stored in a database to be used to create dynamically generated web content.

According to Destiny VP Operations, John Gammack, the new version is expected to generate strong revenue growth for the company next quarter. "We don't limit the maximum number of simultaneous viewers the way other solutions do. We've designed a flexible pricing structure that enables customers to buy by the clip, by the site domain or by a period of time. Existing Clipstream(tm) users will be able to upgrade to the new version at a reasonable cost."
