Final Farewell to Faxes: All Local Spot Advertising Orders from Donovan Data Systems are Electronic

NEW YORK, Feb. 10 / / - With the latest version of DDS' Spot Desktop local media buying application, every order is now electronic. Media buyers using DDS never need to send a fax, print paper or get a "fax back" from a seller.

Using new Order Express functionality in DDS' spot-buying system, local TV, radio and cable buyers communicate with all non-DARE and non-REDI sellers electronically.

"While DDS buyers use EDI for 62% of local TV orders, the numbers are much lower for other local media, specifically radio and cable TV," says Harvey Kent, chief media strategist at DDS. "With this new electronic ordering capability in our local media system, DDS buyers can transact 100% of local business electronically."

Using Order Express is as simple as sending an email. The DDS buyer sends the seller a Web link to the order. The seller clicks on the link to see the order, export the order XML directly into their sales system, and communicate confirmations or rejections directly to the buyer. The buyer's system is updated automatically.

Increases productivity, saves paper

Order Express eliminates thousands of faxes sent per quarter, as well as the folders and file cabinets needed to store copies of these faxes and the return faxes. It also removes the paper fax bill.

In fact, when media agency GroupM installed the latest version of Spot Desktop, it did not even turn on the faxing feature, as all orders are sent electronically to any seller, no matter what system they use.

"You don't have to leave Spot Desktop to send orders, which saves time and adds convenience," says Veronika Kessling, broadcast buying supervisor at GroupM. "You have better control of what's ordered. It's faster than sending an attachment, and there's no risk of forgetting to attach your order. And the comment section for reps is fantastic! I like Order Express a lot."

Says Louise Moretti, assistant media buyer at Universal McCann, "Order Express allows me to accurately track the orders that I send to my stations and reps. I no longer need to pick up faxes, or have to manually update the system with revisions or confirmations. With Order Express it's all done automatically."

Conforms to XML standards for all local media

DDS worked with individual media industry trade associations (TVB, RAB and NCC) to define the appropriate electronic XML specifications. The electronic orders conform to accepted, open XML standards for each local media - TV, radio and cable.
