SAILS 21® Speeds Strategic Supply Chain Design for Optimized Cost Savings That Meet Customer Demand & Delivery Expectations
MANASSAS, VA - January 27, 2004 - INSIGHT, Inc., a leading international provider of supply chain planning solutions for the world's foremost companies, announces a powerful new version of SAILS 21® software, which simplifies and enhances the way supply chain models are built. Version 3.1, in use by all of INSIGHT's current clients, delivers improved performance and ease of use with many new features.

To simplify using the tool, the customer sees only what is necessary for the type of business issues being addressed. The online help has been updated and expanded and offers the user greater guidance throughout the software. In addition, the model checker has been expanded to help our customers identify anything that might have been missed, saving time and streamlining the model building process.
Presentation Features Enable Fast Export, Presentation & Charting
Export of an entire model to Excel is even easier than before - with only two clicks of the mouse. Users can create groups of items for even faster exporting of commonly used data.
New features include detailed searching of the one hundred forty-three (143) standard reports to help the customer find the report that best presents the results. New comparison reports show detailed side-by-side comparisons of the results of two models, allowing the customer to quickly see the differences and cost implications. The overall results of multiple models can be easily exported to Excel. In addition, this data can be displayed in 3-D graphs that give a visual representation of the results, quickly conveying key business drivers.
New Features Make Analyses Quicker, Easier, & More Informative Data about the top one hundred twenty (120) DC locations in the USA provides costs where customer data is not available by relating actual Distribution Center (DC) costs to other locations nationwide. The various types of cost data include wage rates, facility construction and rental, and electricity and are included in SAILS for the top DC locations. This allows costs to be estimated for facilities for which no historical cost information is available, such as candidate locations. Previously, customers were required to calculate these costs outside of SAILS.
