Signiant Enhances Enterprise-Wide Remote Data Management with Mobilize 5.0

New Release Extends Policy-based Control and Movement,

Drastically Reduces Administrative Costs for Remote Sites

BURLINGTON, MA - May 11, 2004 - Signiant Inc., an emerging leader in delivering solutions that help companies control and move remote data, today launched Signiant Mobilize(TM) 5.0, which delivers significant enhancements to its leading enterprise-class remote data software solution.

Mobilize 5.0 provides new levels of administrative ease in enabling organizations to centrally control and securely move data among up to thousands of remote (edge) and central (core) locations. The completely new Mobilize 5.0 interface includes intuitive task-based screens that make it easy for users to take advantage of sophisticated capabilities required for the secure and reliable control and movement of data across WAN network connections. Through Mobilize 5.0's graphical interface, rule-based data movement and management processes can be easily automated, scheduled, deployed and monitored for locations across town, or around the world. Additionally, Mobilize has been further enhanced to provide 400% higher throughput in moving data through high-latency networks.

"The challenge of controlling, protecting and moving data at the edge, frequently across WANs and high-latency networks, requires a unique set of capabilities and expertise," said Peter Gerr, Analyst, Enterprise Storage Group. "Mobilize addresses these issues dead on by incorporating critical functions like policy-based central control, network efficiency, remote process automation, and security. We're not aware of another solution with this comprehensive set of capabilities specifically for remote data."

Managing and Protecting Remote Data

Mobilize technology is currently at use worldwide in financial, retail, software, government, manufacturing, energy and other industries, for applications such as:

o consolidated disk-to-disk backup to eliminate inefficient, costly and high risk individual remote backups to tape

o centralizing data archival to ensure uniform document retention and better storage utilization,

o automating distribution of information to branch locations,

o moving data to a distant remote site for enhanced disaster recovery protection, and

o implementing remote data lifecycle initiatives.

"Mobilize version 5 enables us to publish and aggregate vital information to and from the large number of remote heterogeneous systems at our customer's sites," said Joe McIsaac, CEO of Reflexion Network Solutions, Inc. "Service level delivery to our customers is critical to our business. Mobilize is the only solution we found that could manage our remote installations with complete security and all from a central control point."

In a separate press release today (Signiant's New Remote Data Management Product Suite Eliminates Backup Bottlenecks), the company introduced the first integrated software product set that addresses the most prevalent remote data backup problems with Remote Data Inventory, Remote Data Archive and Consolidated Backup solution modules.

Key Features of Mobilize 5.0

Mobilize is scalable to networks with thousands of nodes and eliminates the need for IT administration at remote sites providing significant cost and efficiency benefits. Designed for easy implementation with existing infrastructure and processes, Mobilize provides guaranteed, secure delivery of information across LANs, WANs, through firewalls and over the Internet. Key features of this new release include:

· Central policy-based control enables administrators to define or update a remote data management rule once and have it automatically implemented throughout the enterprise, eliminating the need to configure tasks individually at each location.

· Network bandwidth optimization makes the most efficient use of a company's existing networks through byte-level differential data transfer, bandwidth throttling, multi-streaming and data compression.

· Patent-pending data integrity and security capabilities authenticate all sending and receiving nodes prior to any data transfer and encrypt the data during transmission using AES, 256+-bit encryption, while preserving a company's firewall integrity.

· Remote process automation and application interfaces allows Mobilize to work with existing remote applications such as Exchange, Oracle and SQL Server and to automate all processes needed to collect and aggregate data from those applications.

· Support for heterogeneous systems, including all major Windows, Linux and UNIX versions.

"Many organizations still have inefficient, multiple-point-product approaches to managing and moving data throughout their enterprises," said Dennis Albano, CEO of Signiant. "Mobilize offers our customers a unified way of centrally managing remote data that lets them deal with network variability, heterogeneous computing platforms, and stringent security requirements. Mobilize customers have the assurance of complete data integrity, increased IT productivity, and up to 75% lower costs for remote data management and protection."

Mobilize Standby Manager Option

For mission critical data movement requirements, customers can now purchase the Standby Mobilize Manager option that ensures continued operation of Mobilize remote data processes if the primary Mobilize Manager server fails. Mobilize automatically performs a failover switch to the second standby Manager and any Mobilize processes running when the failover occurred will restart on the second server, which is critical for applications such as moving data to a distant third site for disaster recovery.
