WebMIS from Rexroth Provides Web-based Analysis for Machine and Plant Optimization

Company to feature its WebMIS tool at IMTS, September 8-15, 2004, at the McCormick Place Complex in Chicago, IL; Booth # D4240.

Rexroth presents WebMIS, a comprehensive tool for the recording, visual presentation and optimization of operational and production data.

This web-based analysis tool includes a multitude of pre-configured analysis graphics and tables for the analysis of weaknesses and machine optimization. With the aid of the joint recording of machine signals, stoppage causes and fault messages, machine or plant failures can be identified any time, helping to reduce downtime and boost productivity.

In the process, it is made immediately clear whether the fault is a technical one or an organizational one, thus permitting the rapid localization and remedy of interference and bottlenecks. The recorded data can be presented either on a machine-specific basis or in comparison with several machines. Thanks to the production of machine indices such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), for example, or utilization ratio and availability, the entire production network is made transparent and can be optimized with selective measures. The long-term monitoring of machine signals and presentation in the form of trend curves permits the clear identification of trending and the continuous improvement of production. Maintenance personnel can also use these long-term measurements for timely predictive maintenance work, thereby eliminating expensive non-production times.

Permanent analysis of process operations in this way permits the identification of weaknesses in production and the achievement of major increases in machine availability.

Thanks to the standardized control system interface (OPC) and data storage system (MSDE/SQL) this solution is suitable for universal use that is independent of the machine. With virtually unlimited scalability, it is possible for data to be acquired and presented - from a single machine to an entire production system. The web-based user interface offers optimized screens that display analysis graphics on any computer in the machinery network. Online diagnostic functions and clear configuration menus provide support for the installer when setting up the networked system and therefore offer a high level of operating convenience - not only for analysis, but from the very beginning of commissioning.

WebMIS was developed on the basis of international standards and is therefore capable of straightforward integration in all machine networks (Ethernet TCP/IP). Data is acquired on the machines at all times - even in the case of network failure, thanks to a buffer on the local controller computer.

Bosch Rexroth Corporation, a merger of Bosch Automation Technology and Rexroth, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH. In the year 2003, Bosch Rexroth AG achieved sales of $4.4 billion (3.7 billion Euros) with 25,700 employees.
