Aricent Launches IMS Application Development Environment for Texas Instruments OMAP(TM) Platform

Graphical Environment Will Simplify Development and Reduce Time-to-Revenue of Compelling IMS Applications

PALO ALTO, California, December 12/-Aricent, a full-service, full-spectrum communications software company, today announced the availability of its IMS Application Development Environment (iADE) for the OMAP(TM) platform from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI). Aricent iADE is an innovative, graphical development environment that uses automatic code generation and key functionality building blocks including presence, voice, messaging, push-to-talk over cellular, group/list management and video to rapidly build compelling, new applications. Aricent demonstrated the comprehensive capabilities of Aricent iADE by showcasing a unique lifestyle application, the Active Answering Machine, at ITU Telecom World 2006 in Hong Kong from December 4-8, 2006.

"Aricent's IMS Application Development Environment (iADE) allows developers and service providers to convert ideas into working, revenue generating applications in record time," said Mr. Deepak Mehrotra, Vice President of Mobile Terminal Solutions at Aricent. "Aricent iADE reduces the time and effort required to develop, test and deploy new IMS applications.

The Active Answering Machine demonstration is one example of many that highlights how novel concepts can be developed very quickly using iADE and TI's OMAP platform," added Mr. Mehrotra.

"Aricent's iADE enables the development of new IMS applications and services including presence, push-to-talk over cellular, voice, group/list management and messaging. iADE leverages the high performance of TI's OMAP platform to quickly meet the growing IMS application and service needs of handset manufacturers," said Mr. Markus Tremmel, worldwide manager of Texas Instruments Cellular Systems Ecosystem.

To simplify IMS application development, Aricent's iADE provides developers with building blocks that offer key application functions, including presence, voice, push-to-talk over cellular, group/list management and messaging. Developers can drag, drop and connect the building blocks to create innovative scenarios and workflows using iADE's powerful, graphical user interface. The automatic code generator embedded into iADE ensures that developers do not have to write any code to create the new application workflow. Aricent's iADE unleashes the power and versatility of IMS while hiding underlying development complexity.

Aricent offers communication software services and products spanning the communications ecosystem from equipment and device manufacturers, through to service providers. With a complete understanding of handsets, and of the communications infrastructure in the network which powers them, Aricent is ideally placed to build an environment which accelerates IMS application development.
