Overview
Are you looking for better, faster ways to get critical business information to your employees, suppliers, partners, and customers? Do you need to drive efficiency into your output management system by distributing more output electronically in nonprint formats rather than printing? Are you finding that business process transformation - becoming an On Demand Business - requires merging applications that were once separately owned and managed into an integrated business workflow? IBM Infoprint® Transforms for z/OS® can help you solve these issues and more by providing data stream transforms that let you send output from PCs, UNIX® servers, and mainframes to the most appropriate, cost-effective printer for the job. Or you can transform Advanced Function Presentation(TM) (AFP(TM)) production application output into PDF for delivery as e-mail or on Web sites and portals. And you can merge applications that produce different data formats by converting them into one common format.

Flexible printing options
The trend toward increased personalization and customized presentation of customer documents has resulted in the availability of a wide range of sophisticated document composition tools. Many of these produce standard PostScript or PDF formats, yet you need to print them on reliable, high-speed AFP production printers. Using Infoprint Transforms to AFP, documents in PCL, PostScript, PDF, and SAP/R3 formats can be converted into AFP for production print. Conversely, using Infoprint Transform for AFP to HP PCL and Infoprint Transform for AFP to Adobe PostScript, AFP applications that were once printed and distributed can now be converted into PCL or PostScript and sent to LAN-attached printers in any department.

Enablement of electronic delivery of output
Infoprint Transform for AFP to Adobe PDF lets you convert AFP output into PDF for delivery as e-mail, or for publishing on a Web site or portal. New capabilities in this offering make electronic delivery even more effective by enabling conversion of AFP index (TLE) commands to PDF bookmarks for easy navigation within documents, and by conversion of AFP linking commands (LLE) into links within the PDF document to external sources, such as an Internet address.

Secure information delivery
New privacy of information legislation and concerns over the protection of sensitive client information have created an increased focus on security. With Infoprint Transform for AFP to PDF, AFP output can now be encrypted while it is being converted to PDF for secure electronic delivery.

Key prerequisites
IBM Infoprint Transforms for z/OS and IBM Infoprint Coaxial Printer Support for z/OS run with z/OS V1R4 or higher. They require the Infoprint Server feature of z/OS as a prerequisite.
