MicroMain Unveils New Capital Planning Software

Company is First Major CMMS Vendor to Develop Integrated Capital Planning, Maintenance Management, and Facility Management Software

(April 26, 2006) AUSTIN, TX - MicroMain Corporation, a leading provider of asset and facility management software and services, today announced the release of its new capital planning and asset management (CPAM) software, MicroMain CM(TM). With this application, MicroMain becomes the first major computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) vendor to develop an integrated suite of products targeting all critical facility operations-capital planning, maintenance management, and facility management.

MicroMain CM is the latest product offering from MicroMain, which currently supports over 19,000 licenses for MicroMain XM(TM), the company's flagship CMMS, and MicroMain FM(TM), its computer-aided facility management (CAFM) system.

"Executives have been asking for a solid tool set to easily manage all aspects of enterprise facility upkeep and growth," said Pat Conroy, President of MicroMain. "So our goal is 'Simply everything to manage any facility-simply.' With our capital planning software, we're coming closer to achieving that goal."

Ease of use is a major reason cited by customers selecting MicroMain software. Many organizations convert to MicroMain because their current systems are too complicated.

"I'm sure we'll see many more conversions as people see how they can simplify their capital planning with MicroMain CM," said Joe Brummer, Vice President at MicroMain. "Our customers tell us they appreciate our software's rich feature set, intuitive interface, common-sense navigation, and effortless report generation. MicroMain CM will clearly hit the mark for organizations looking for cost-effective, easy-to-use capital planning software."

MicroMain CM is designed to allow customers to self-assess the current condition of their buildings and assets. Customers contracting assessments through architectural or engineering firms can also have the firms use MicroMain CM to capture the data in a central database that will be used by the customer in developing capital plans. MicroMain CM will also be available to architects and engineers providing assessment services.

The assessment begins the capital planning process by determining current conditions of building components and cataloging deferred maintenance needs. The software then enables users to easily determine maintenance priorities and estimate costs for major repairs, renovations, replacements, and acquisitions. Organizations may also receive capital requests-from staff, other departments, or other appropriate bodies-and establish priorities and costs for these, as well. An industry-standard Facility Condition Index (FCI) is then automatically calculated, based on deferred maintenance costs compared to current replacement value.

With this detailed information, users create capital plans, which can be used to justify funding requests.

Capital plans developed in MicroMain CM can be tracked in MicroMain XM, which generates the project information needed to complete work and monitor and report on actual costs. MicroMain FM enables users to visualize the implementation of the capital plan through data-enabled facility drawings.

"We're delighted to step up as the first major CMMS company to develop all three software systems needed for proactive management of equipment, areas, buildings, and sites," Conroy said. "Customers have always counted on us to meet their immediate needs. Now, with MicroMain CM, we can help them gain optimum return on their capital expenditures."
