SALT LAKE CITY, May 23 - LANDesk Software, Ltd. a leading provider of IT service management solutions, today announced the availability of LANDesk(R) Application Virtualization - a software packaging and distribution paradigm-changing solution that has been fully integrated with the award winning LANDesk(R) Management Suite. The integration of these LANDesk(R) products gives IT organizations the same control over virtualized applications as they now have over standard applications - delivering unmatched business value and ease of use.

Deploying a virtualized application provides users with the full functionality of that application without having to go through the installation process. Because virtualized applications run in their own virtual environment, users are able to eliminate application conflicts, they can run different versions of the same application simultaneously to leverage prior investments in database content, and they can run applications that are not yet compatible with Windows Vista(TM), as they deploy that operating system in their organization.
LANDesk Application Virtualization uses a client-less architecture that allows applications to be run from any LAN, WAN, USB, CD-ROM drive, and more, with zero-footprint on the host PC. The virtualized applications, packaged into simple EXE files, are isolated from the host PC and run exclusively in user mode. This ensures seamless execution on locked-down desktops with no device drivers installed, enabling administrators to maintain a secure, clean and stable user desktop. The solution can transparently stream large applications from a shared network drive with no client or server software to install, as well as run the application "off-line" on the PC without installation or changes to the local desktop's registry and file system.
