Original Press Release:

enPortal 4.5 Raises the Bar for Single Sign-On and Rapid Integration

FAIRFAX, Va., Nov. 8 / -- Edge Technologies Inc., the leading provider of secure integration software, today announced the newest release of its flagship enPortal offering. Available now, enPortal 4.5 includes a range of new features from an Integration Builder utility to automated authentication that provides automatic single sign-on and single sign-out to resident and proxied applications.

The combination of these enhancements helps customers save valuable time - - and money -- by making application integration easier, faster, and more secure.

"With enPortal 4.5, Edge has clearly taken a significant step forward in enabling integration across multiple brand investments -- one of the thorniest and most controversial challenges in the industry today," said Dennis Drogseth, vice president at Enterprise Management Associates, a Boulder, Colo. research and analyst firm that specializes in the issues of technology management.

According to Drogseth, "EnPortal 4.5 ... should also make integrating and managing across multiple IT management solutions more feasible and cost effective -- and as such should enable process enhancements in support of superior IT efficiency."

enPortal 4.5
With enPortal 4.5 customers get a range of new features, including:

o Integration Builder
o Simplified Inter-Component Communication
o HTTP Proxy Server Support
o Authentication Enhancements
o Look-and-Feel (LAF) Improvements

Integration Builder

The new Integration Builder helps reduce the learning curve -- and time spent -- creating Product Integration Modules (PIMs). One of the main features is the Content Retrieval Service (CRS) Sniffer, which lets an integrator examine CRS processing rules and capture related HTTP request and response traffic.

Simplified Inter-Component Communication

Customers get deeper levels of integration through a new enPortal 4.5 integration utility, which lets actions taken in one channel affect other channels. In other words, a channel from one PIM can link to content served by another PIM.

HTTP Proxy Server Support

enPortal 4.5 extends its current web application consolidation capabilities by supporting HTTP-proxied connections between the enPortal server and the web application server.

Authentication Enhancements

enPortal 4.5 customers get improved Session Management capabilities, such as automated "sign-out" capabilities as well as the ability to use existing single sign-on credentials for single sign-on to proxied applications.

Look-and-Feel Improvements

The Look-and-Feel Editor in enPortal 4.5 is much easier to use, specifically reorganized to group related LAF attributes together. The new LAF Editor also lets users test look-and-feel changes without saving or implementing them, and makes customization easier by letting users distribute LAFs separately from the main portal distribution.

Additional Enhancements
Additional enhancements in enPortal 4.5 include:

o Improved performance
o Usability/GUI enhancements
o Symbolic Hierarchical Information Model (SHIM) improvements
o Channel auto-refresh
o Improved CRS proxy capabilities
o Preload/Cache capabilities for views in the view-set

"This release of enPortal is completely customer-driven," said Larry Chang, president and CEO of Edge Technologies. "Customers have asked for easier integration and more automated and secure authentication. That's exactly what we've delivered."
