New Tool Simplifies Process of Creating Test and Measurement Software, Speeds Delivery of Products to Market

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 1, 2002 -- Agilent Technologies Inc.
(NYSE: A) today released its T&M (Test and Measurement) Programmers Toolkit, a new software suite that extends Microsoft Visual Studio .NET to engineers creating test and measurement applications. This new test code development tool simplifies the process of creating, debugging and running test and measurement equipment control software, and is expected to ultimately result in a faster delivery of products to market.

"The integration of the Agilent T&M Programmers Toolkit into
Microsoft's leading development environment gives Agilent customers the ability to focus their attention on what matters most to them -- getting their products to market," said Byron Anderson, senior vice president and general manager of Agilent's Electronic Products and Solutions Group. "Now they don't have to spend inordinate amounts of time wrestling with connectivity or proprietary test and measurement applications."

Test and measurement customers can now experience the ease-of-use
associated with an open-standard, software-development environment. Sophisticated instrument management, bus monitoring and code-generation wizards eliminate the headaches associated with the traditional means of connecting to and controlling instruments. Add-in components from Agilent and other companies for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET enhance software development speed, quality and maintainability, while reducing project costs. Built-in debug, analysis and tuning tools further streamline the development process. The Toolkit is completely
integrated into Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, ensuring easy access to the productivity and flexibility built into that environment.

"Agilent provides a valuable solution to the engineering
community," said David Lazar, group product manager for the Developer and Platform Evangelism Division at Microsoft Corp. "Engineers using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET will benefit from the ability to access test and measurement capabilities from within Visual Studio .NET."
