Wyse Streaming Manager Extends the Benefits of Thin Computing to More Desktops

Industry's First Streaming Software Solution for Thin Clients and Virtual Desktops

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 14 / -- Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing, today announced the general availability of Wyse Streaming Manager, a component of its comprehensive software suite designed to bring advanced new thin-computing features and benefits to users in the enterprise market. Wyse software solutions extend the thin-computing value proposition -- greater cost efficiency, reliability, manageability and security -- across departments in organizations of all sizes.

"Wyse Streaming Manager (WSM) delivers to users a full featured desktop software environment for thin computers. This allows IT administrators to take full advantage of security, manageability and cost benefits of thin computing throughout their organizations," said Ricardo Antuna, Vice President of Product Line Management at Wyse.

WSM key features are Windows Server-based services that independently stream the operating system and applications, an easy-to-use image-creation tool for IT administrators to create and deploy operating system images, an application packager that allows IT administrators to create and deploy application images, and a centralized web-based management interface.

"Aging desktops, limited IT resources and shrinking budgets dictate the need to deploy a thin-computing solution," said Darryl LaGace, Director of Information Systems at Lemon Grove School District. "The ever-changing web-based school curriculums demand rich-media applications, and the Wyse Streaming Manager deployed with Citrix Presentation Server fits our IT budget and our need to easily deploy applications to student desktops."

The Wyse software portfolio is designed to help IT organizations achieve these seemingly divergent objectives. In addition to Wyse Streaming Manager, the Wyse software portfolio also includes:

-- Wyse Device Manager (formerly Rapport), which controls local or remote, wired or mobile, desktop or handheld thin devices, manages the embedded operating system and local applications resident on the thin device;
-- The Wyse Thin OS (formerly Blazer), which delivers the benefits of thin computing with the best price performance.

Together these products help IT departments deliver the performance organizations need on their desktops, plus the manageability and security that IT requires, all with a lower total cost of ownership.

"Wyse Streaming Manager presents another milestone in the Wyse software strategy for thin computing excellence. The reliability and scalability of this web-based product provides IT administrators with the first complete streaming application today," Antuna said.
