SuperHarm Evaluates Harmonics on Electric Power Systems

Edison, N.J.- Electrotek Concepts, a leading power quality consulting company, offers SuperHarm® software for harmonic modeling and simulation of electric power systems. By developing a computer representation of a power system, the software allows users to explore variations on system loads and configurations as well as the impact on system frequency response and distortion levels.

The software interprets a user-created text file composed of circuit description language keywords, which represent device models and control commands. After checking for errors, the solver calculates the nodal admittance matrix of the system before computing and recording the solution to the output file.

Available with a wide variety of device and source models, SuperHarm can solve both balanced and unbalanced three-phase systems by using admittance matrix techniques rather than sequence component solution methods. Harmonic-producing load models allow users to enter either worst-case or actual measured data for the harmonic current injections.

The user-friendly SuperHarm software utilizes The Output Processor®(TOP) to visualize simulation results through Microsoft Windows, allowing users to easily transfer any output information into a Microsoft Excel or Word document. Electrotek Concepts also provides user-support for SuperHarm through the PQSoft® support service (www.pqsoft.com) .
