Agilix Labs Releases GoBinder 2006 for Enhanced Mobile Learning

OREM, Utah, March 1 / -- Agilix Labs, Inc., a worldwide leader in mobile learning solutions, today announced it has released GoBinder(TM) 2006. Designed as the digital binder for student learning, the product delivers significant enhancements for higher education and distance learning students over earlier releases, with an open, extensible architecture to enable third party extensions. The new application is available for download at www.gobinder.com.

GoBinder enables students to take digital notes and capture learning content, such as lecture notes, course syllabus, study materials and web research, as digital copies for annotation and highlighting. All personal notes and captured content can be searched, facilitating study and assignment completion. GoBinder also provides personal management tools for students to manage their schedule, tasks and personal contacts, along with synchronization of this information with Microsoft Outlook or Palm devices. GoBinder works with Windows XP desktops, laptops and Tablet PCs.

The new 2006 version of GoBinder adds better course and personal project management. A new course tab feature enables students to store all course content, personal notes, contacts, tasks and appointments that relate to a specific course. This gives students two views of their information -- one by course and a second being a global view. All contacts, tasks and appointments for all courses and extracurricular activity can still be accessed through the calendar, and task and contact managers. The course tab feature can also be used for basic project management, enabling students and professionals to manage all meetings, people, assignments and information related to a project in one place.

GoBinder 2006 also enhances its core features. Note-taking enhancements enable users to drag-and-drop RTF, plain text and web text to a GoBinder digital note, and from a GoBinder note to another application. Users have an auto-outline mode for better organized notes. Tablet PC users get enhanced digital ink support with a shape creation tool, flags to mark key places in a digital note and optional on screen pens, highlighters and color toolbars for single click changes to ink.

GoBinder 2006 adds significant personal management features for staying organized and linking various items in the database. Users can now associate appointments, tasks and contacts with user-defined categories. Filters can be applied to only show appointments and contacts, for example, that relate to a course, project or other category. Users can also filter a search on any of these items by category. Additions to task management now support recurring tasks, highlighting task priority by color, easily changing priority by drag-and-drop and tracking unscheduled tasks that need to be completed in the future. Further, links can be applied to associate appointments, tasks and contacts with each other. For example, a task can be linked to a contact to show to whom it has been delegated.

Personalization is a major area of focus for GoBinder 2006. Users can define a wide set of options to tune the application to their preferences. For example, the calendar can be changed to display various time scales and show week numbers. Users can define the work week and when a work day starts and ends. Task priority colors, automatic forwarding of overdue tasks to the current day and options of how to display tasks in week views are all user-defined. And the application can begin where it left or always go to a specific area of the application upon re-start of the application.

Open Architecture

GoBinder 2006 is designed for expansion through an open architecture. Agilix provides APIs (application program interfaces) and the GoBinder SDK (software development kit) for third party developers to build a wide variety of "plug-ins" that enable GoBinder 2006 to be further enhanced. Agilix used the plug-in architecture to build a custom version of GoBinder 2006 for Blackboard called Blackboard Backpack.

GoBinder 2006 is available now at www.gobinder.com for purchase or 30-day trial. The product lists for $49 per student or $99 per professional user. GoBinder 2005 users will be able to upgrade to GoBinder 2006 at no extra charge for the first sixty days. Quantity discounts are also available for education institutions that choose to purchase GoBinder 2006 for their students. The GoBinder SDK is currently in beta and can be downloaded at www.agilix.com. When available, the SDK will be provided at no charge.
