Sage Software Announces New Version of Award-Winning Process Manufacturing Solution: Sage PFW ERP 5.5



Irvine, Calif. - October 17, 2006 - Sage Software today announced the release of Sage PFW ERP 5.5, the newest version of the company's award-winning financial and process manufacturing solution. Sage PFW 5.5 includes new features that improve usability and maximize productivity throughout core business functions, as well as enhanced functionality to increase accuracy and help protect key data for process manufacturing operations. Designed especially for small to midsized companies transacting business throughout the global marketplace, Sage PFW 5.5 is a complete financial and operations management system that provides extensive capabilities for handling international transactions plus comprehensive, fully integrated modules for process manufacturers.

Advanced Data Lookup

The Sage PFW Advanced Lookup Engine is a data retrieving tool that enables users to tailor functions to each user's unique requirements. By organizing data views in meaningful ways at the user level, the Advanced Lookup Engine speeds access to important information and improves overall efficiency. Customized views can be saved for quick retrieval, or even set as defaults. The highly flexible Advanced Lookup Engine also exports data results in a variety of formats, enabling users to leverage valuable company information for marketing and sales activities.

Enhanced Security

A new Delete credential has been added to Sage PFW 5.5 for greater protection of data across the entire company. The Delete credential controls the ability to remove financial data, process manufacturing formulas and other critical information to only those with the specified credential. By isolating the Delete credential from Read/Write credentials, an added layer of security is created to protect important data.

Sage PFW 5.5 also supports Administrator rights assigned to multiple individuals within an organization. This gives companies greater flexibility with better auditing, as maintenance and other changes to security, sales, accounting and manufacturing data are fully tracked when updated. Administrative functions have been enhanced with an easy-to-use TreeView display and helpful toolbar to simplify the creation and maintenance of security groups and user rights.

Simplified Receivables and Payables

A new Accounts Receivable Writeoff feature automates the task of clearing nominal, unpaid invoice amounts and eliminates time-consuming manual adjustments to Accounts Receivable legers. Accounts Receivable Writeoff applies balances to pre-defined general ledger accounts by writeoff type to quickly and easily make adjustments and keep data accurate.

Sage PFW 5.5 simplifies check printing with a new Quick Check button, which lets users with appropriate credentials print checks at any time. Quick Check is a convenient, user-friendly way to expedite payments for C.O.D. shipments or other payments that can not wait until the next check run. Coupled with the new Allow Payment Date Override - enabling companies to establish allowable date thresholds - Sage PFW 5.5 gives business owners the power and flexibility they need to run smoothly and efficiently.

Batch Edit Report

The new Batch Edit Report is an automated tool designed to ensure accuracy and eliminate even the smallest of errors before batches are closed and finalized. Providing user-configured validation checks for formulas, finished goods and raw materials, Batch Edit Report is able to meet the needs of a variety of process manufacturing industries. Users also define validation flags to help identify critical problems, identified as "Error" conditions, or tolerable problems, identified as "Warning" conditions. By tailoring Batch Edit Report to meet validation requirements, users have better control over inventory and maintain more accurate and reliable data. Configurable validation conditions include:
