Customers Benefit from Model-Driven Visibility into Cross-Platform SOA Application Performance with ClearApp

ClearApp QuickVision 7.5 Provides Comprehensive Metrics and Measurement for Oracle® SOA Suite Customers Using SOA Application Service Modeling

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 10 -- ClearApp, a provider of comprehensive application service management (ASM) for J2EE-based composite applications, today announced support for Oracle® SOA Suite, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, with the latest version of its flagship ASM solution, QuickVision 7.5. The product's support of Oracle SOA Suite can provide customers a top-down topology of their SOA applications across heterogeneous platforms. From this unique visual model, IT users can drill down directly from high-level transactions from their composite applications into Oracle-based SOA components and servers. This end-to-end SOA performance management solution helps maximize the availability of mission-critical SOA applications by shortening the amount of time to resolve incidents and, in many cases, eliminating performance bottlenecks before they impact the end user.

QuickVision 7.5 features integration to Oracle BPEL Process Manager, automatically generating a visual model connecting complete Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) workflows to their underlying Web services, Oracle Enterprise Services Bus, and J2EE resources. SOA application owners and operational staff can monitor performance and drill down directly into the SOA application model to dive into performance metrics at the lowest component level. Performance bottlenecks can be eliminated by quickly isolating and diagnosing the root cause at any BPEL application level. Finally, QuickVision provides problem management from a single console with root cause analysis and trending to isolate bottlenecks and diagnose SOA application performance problems within a business context.

For Oracle SOA Suite customers, QuickVision 7.5 provides visibility across application middleware in heterogeneous environments, such as Oracle BPEL Process Manager running on BEA WebLogic Application Server. QuickVision's real-time change management dynamically assesses the potential impact of any dependency change on service levels prior to planned downtime and then automatically reconfigures the model.

"Experience has shown that bottoms-up systems management and application performance management approaches are not sufficient when deploying complex composite applications," said Richard L. Ptak, a principal analyst with Ptak, Noel and Associates. "We recommend a service modeling approach for any enterprise managing SOA across multiple layers of middleware. Systems management vendors should consider either building a services model themselves or partnering with ClearApp if they wish to shortcut the path to delivering full visibility."

QuickVision 7.5 Provides Visibility across J2EE Application Server Platforms

ClearApp QuickVision 7.5 contains a number of enhancements that allow SOA application owners to gain top-down, cross platform performance visibility with limited expertise. In addition to support for Oracle SOA Suite, QuickVision now supports the latest versions of application servers IBM® WebSphere 6.1 and BEA® WebLogic 10. Available for beta deployments today and scheduled for general availability in February 2008, version 7.5 delivers a number of usability enhancements including:

o Automatically generated enterprise dashboards customized to a user's
role for real-time service level reporting;
o Remote log access that improves mean-time-to-repair when interacting
with ClearApp support;
o A Java 6 plug-in for access to the QuickVision administration
console.

"We are pleased to support Oracle SOA Suite and to offer all of our customers true SOA application support on a robust, growing platform," said Jason Donahue, president and CEO, ClearApp. "We are excited to be leveraging our model-based application service management capabilities to help Oracle customers to get the most value out of their SOA and composite application deployments."

ASM bridges the IT visibility gap inherent in today's complex composite applications. Without having this context, it has become virtually impossible to effectively diagnose application service problems in enterprise applications that leverage multiple layers of middleware. An unmanageable application, no matter its sophistication or richness of services, provides little value to an organization. Further, an IT operations team must understand an application's logic to be able to effectively conduct the impact analysis required to stay ahead of potential application problems.

ClearApp is a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork. Last month, ClearApp QuickVision 7.5 was highlighted during a breakout session at Oracle OpenWorld 2007 in San Francisco.
