HASP SL Version 6.4 Supports Solaris Server

CHICAGO, Dec. 30 - Aladdin Knowledge Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:ALDN), today announced that Aladdin HASP SL 6.4, its software-based licensing, protection and software distribution system, now offers Solaris Server support.

HASP SL (formerly called Privilege) allows software publishers to distribute secure software via CD, ESD, or peer-to-peer networks while also protecting software copyrights and intellectual property. With HASP SL, software publishers can reduce operational costs and integrate with in-house or hosted Web stores. Aladdin HASP's new Solaris based HASP Commerce Server, which provides the administrative, customer service and activation services required to create, manage, support, and activate software products and associated sales offers, offers all features inside the original Windows-based solution, as well as new capabilities, including:

-- Web-Based Reporting -- Publishers can log into the HASP Commerce Server and view near real-time dashboard reports and detailed time-based audit reports that capture product activation data (e.g. number of software copies activated in the last month).

-- Web-Based Customer Service Tool -- Publishers can provide phone-based product activation, increase/decrease the number of activations for an end user, provide trial extensions and disable activation codes for refund purposes.

-- Enhanced Feature-Based Licensing Capabilities -- Publishers can pass additional data securely to the protected application during the end user activation process. This enables publishers to protect an application once and create many different product packages based on the additional data sent during activation.

-- Secure Distributed System -- All publisher tools now have secure remote access to the HASP Commerce Server, creating a fully distributed system. A service provider looking to add software protection to its list of services need only install the full HASP SL system once and can give each publisher all the tools necessary to protect and securely distribute software.

-- Multiple Publisher Support -- Each publisher logs in to the server and has his unique protected view into the HASP SL database. There is also a super administrator role that is created by the service provider to create publisher accounts and control the level of publisher access to certain components of the system.

-- Secure Remote Role-Based Access -- Four roles have been added to the HASP Commerce Server, including Server Administrator, Publisher Administrator, Customer Service Manager (CSM) and Customer Service Representative (CSR).

The HASP Family of Products

-- HASP HL -- the industry's top hardware-based licensing and software protection system

-- HASP SL (formerly known as Privilege) -- a software-based licensing, protection and distribution system

-- HASP TT (formerly known as the Privilege Trialware Toolkit) -- for creating secure, controlled trialware
