National Instruments LabVIEW Vision Software Delivers Embedded Vision Capabilities Create Integrated Vision, Motion, and Data Acquisition Systems with LabVIEW Real-Time and PXI

AUSTIN, Texas - May 21, 2002 - National Instruments today announced Version 6.1 of its Vision Development software, which engineers and scientists can use to create embedded vision systems for greater reliability in applications such as automated inspection and alignment in manufacturing. Together with LabVIEW Real-Time, this new version brings embedded vision capabilities to the National Instruments real-time PXI/CompactPCI platform.

The NI Vision 6.1 Development Module is a bundle of vision software consisting of IMAQ Vision 6.1 and IMAQ Vision Builder 6.1. With this new module, engineers and scientists can quickly prototype vision applications and generate LabVIEW programs on a host computer, and then deploy these applications on the real-time PXI platform. With PXI, engineers and scientists can take advantage of advanced timing features and synchronize imaging devices with NI data acquisition (DAQ) and motion control hardware.

"Now, with LabVIEW Real-Time, users can quickly and easily add vision measurements to their real-time systems using a graphical development environment that reduces the cost needed for developing embedded applications," said John Hanks, National Instruments Vision Platform Manager. "With the NI Vision 6.1 Development Module, engineers and scientists no longer need real-time programming expertise to build robust, embedded vision applications."

In addition, the NI Vision 6.1 Development Module improves pattern-matching accuracy up to 10 times for use in both the NI real-time PXI platform as well as Microsoft Windows. The newest version of this module also enhances pattern matching performance with faster learning speeds, a smaller image template size, and up to a two times increase in search speed.

About NI Vision Software

The Vision Development Module includes IMAQ Vision Builder and IMAQ Vision, which work together to simplify vision software development. IMAQ Vision Builder is an interactive environment that quickly prototypes and benchmarks vision applications without programming. IMAQ Vision is a library of more than 300 machine vision and scientific imaging functions. The National Instruments IMAQ product line features easy-to-use software and hardware that creates a complete measurement and automation solution.

About LabVIEW Real-Time
