Trend Micro(TM) Advances NeatSuite(TM) Security Suites with Newly Enhanced Central Management Capabilities

Trend Micro Control Manager(TM) 5.0, a unique Web-based, multi-tier management console, offers increased flexibility, ease-of-use and customization.

CUPERTINO, Calif., March 17 - Trend Micro Incorporated, a global leader in Internet content security, has extended its Web-based central management console, Trend Micro Control Manager, with enhancements that let the company's NeatSuite security suites become even more effective in delivering multi-layered, multi-threat protection against an intensive backdrop of cyber gangs and Web attacks. These enhancements are found in Trend Micro Control Manager 5.0.

With version 5.0, customers of both NeatSuite Standard (for mid-size companies) and NeatSuite Advanced (for large enterprise organizations) will have simplified administration, enhanced security, improved scalability and reduced desk-side visits, meaning less work for IT staff. Trend Micro Control Manager allows customers to:

- Simplify administration through a proven Web-based console and an integrated agent. This agent-less management model eliminates the need for agent version upgrades, reducing desk-side visits for IT staff.
- Receive enhanced security through role-based user access control, single sign-on and automated license management across all security products.
- Gain improved scalability through a multi-tier management model that decentralizes control to the regional IT staff while offering centralized management from headquarters.
- Create better reports and logs with improved reporting capabilities that include new adhoc queries to view data for products and events, and the ability to make customized templates.

"Trend Micro Control Manager has always made it easy to communicate results to management and is the perfect complement to the products within our NeatSuite Advanced suite," said Michael Draeger, an IT field support representative for Silgan Containers, Inc. "The newest release adds customizable report templates and real-time charts and graphs. These features not only improve reporting, but give me more intuitive and informative real-time views of security status. In short, Control Manager minimizes the time required to manage security which drives down the total cost of ownership for our company."

According to Trend Micro's recent Threat Report & Forecast, Web threats have skyrocketed by nearly 1600 percent between 2005 and 2007. Newspapers and magazines headline cybercriminals stealthily forging an underground economy that propagate spam, viruses, phishing and malware attacks. Private individuals, schools, companies of all sizes and government organizations are all at risk. Last year, a university and a California county Web site were injected with codes that either led to pornographic Webs sites or to download other malware. Users of a leading job-search site were also put at risk after an attacker hijacked job listings posted on the company's Web site, losing time, money and reputation.

"Cybercriminals are making big profits at the expense of businesses whose data, networks, employee productivity and customer trust are their life-blood. We've seen situations where companies lost millions of their customers' credit card numbers because of hackers - financially, it's devastating but you can't put a dollar figure on a company's reputation," said Tom Miller, global vice president and general manager, Enterprise Business Unit at Trend Micro. "NeatSuite Standard and NeatSuite Advanced deliver fully integrated, centrally managed, gateway-to-endpoint security solutions that equip companies for battle in today's Internet-threat landscape. Since these suites include Trend Micro Control Manager 5.0, our customers also benefit from the easiest, most effective way of managing their Trend Micro security."
