Press Release Summary:
With Real Time Data Server Software, land surveying companies can use GNSS equipment to build their own direct IP RTK corrections server. Program will collect corrections sent by GNSS base station and act as gateway to make correction data available to any rover that connects to software. Base can be permanent with direct/local connection to RTDS, or roaming with connection to RTDS through GPRS. Using GPRS communication link instead of radios eliminates radio propagation issues.

Magellan® Announces New PC Software for Building a Real Time Data Server (RTDS)
RTDS Software Enables Land Surveyors to Build Their Own Direct IP RTK Corrections Server
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 8 /-- Magellan, the originator of GPS+GLONASS(TM) GNSS signal processing technology today announced a new PC software called Real Time Data Server (RTDS) that offers land surveying companies the opportunity of using GNSS equipment to build their own direct IP RTK corrections server.
The RTDS software will collect corrections sent by a GNSS base station and act as a gateway to make correction data available to any rover that connects to the software. RTDS allows GPRS communication between one base and multiple rovers. The base can be a permanent base (with a direct/local connection to the RTDS) or a roaming base (connected to RTDS through GPRS).
RTDS User Benefits
Magellan RTDS enables land surveyors to have an efficient alternative to RTK networks (public or private) and also solves radio propagation issues, providing a GPRS cellular network is available.
- RTDS extends the productivity of your GNSS equipment as it enables the connection of several rovers to one single base station and can control several base stations at the same time (multi-instances). RTDS brings users additional flexibility, with its ability to support surveying crews in the field.
- When used with Magellan ProMark(TM) 500 receivers, RTDS provides a fully integrated solution for RTK surveying (no need for external radios thanks to the built-in GSM module).
- Using a GPRS communication link instead of radios enables users to increase baselines and remove radio propagation issues in difficult environments. The RTDS solution is applicable to any GNSS RTK system.
With RTDS, Magellan is creating a new way of building direct IP servers that leverage the features of the ProMark 500 receiver (built-in GPRS) while providing a solution to all users for eliminating UHF radio propagation issues in difficult environments (buildings, hills, etc.).
Magellan allows people to travel, work and play their way with leading portable navigation and positioning solutions across multiple consumer and business-to-business markets. Recognized as an industry innovator, the company is the creator of the ProMark 3, the best-selling single frequency GPS survey product line on the market, the ProMark 500 multi-frequency, multi-constellation GNSS survey system, the award-winning Magellan RoadMate(R) series portable car navigation systems, Maestro(TM), CrossoverGPS(TM), the Magellan Triton(TM) outdoor handheld navigation devices, and the Hertz(R) NeverLost(R) car navigation system. Magellan is privately held and headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif.
