Connecting People to Your Business

BEA WebLogic Portal 9.2 is a JEE-based enterprise portal server that is designed to help simplify the production and management of custom service- oriented portals. Among new tooling, federation and community enhancements in WebLogic Portal 9.2 are new dynamic, adaptive user interface capabilities with rich granular features such as enhancements for AJAX support and market- leading support for Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP). Combined, the upgraded portal is designed to provide greater competitive advantage with increased flexibility to help adapt to business changes and richer more responsive user interfaces.

The enhancements included in WebLogic Portal 9.2 are:
-- Standards-based portlet federation, based upon the WSRP standard, with support for syndication of portal books and pages, personalized delivery, performance optimization and service lifecycle governance.
-- A new community framework, as part of portal business services that is designed to simplify portal membership, management, and end user production of community portals.
-- Portal lifecycle management capabilities including the new release of BEA Workshop for WebLogic which provides an Eclipse-based development environment for Java, portal, Web, and service-oriented applications. Also, portal propagation is included to help simplify the IT management for moving portals through staging from development to production.
-- Upgrade wizards are designed to allow customers to upgrade the portal domain from 6.1, 7.0, 8.1 and WebLogic Portal 8.1.4 and 8.1.5 portal applications.

DataScan Technologies LLC, (www.datascantech.com) a subsidiary of World Omni Financial Corp. (WOFC) and a global leader in wholesale floor plan accounting and risk management systems and services, is currently re- engineering three FoxPro-based applications into a single Web-based portal application code named Falcon. Previously separate code bases, the new Falcon application will represent a consolidated code base leveraging a service-based architecture.

"Scheduled for release in 2007, Falcon will be available in both a hosted ASP model, serving multiple customers with different load and customization demands and non-ASP for in-house client implementations," said Sandy Woolley, vice president of Falcon Development, DataScan Technologies. "To support this effort we are leveraging BEA WebLogic as the standard architecture based upon the platform's unparalleled ability to help process and meet a large volume of unique, end-user requirements. We are excited about WebLogic 9.2, as we believe the new release will allow us to achieve higher levels of productivity, scalability and agility to meet the growing market demand for the next generation of our product."
