Original Press Release:

Fastpic4 Advanced Order Processing Module Boosts Industrial Storage And Retrieval System Efficiency

New FastPic4 v4.02, the latest release of FastPic Systems' inventory management software, features an advanced order processing module that improves system efficiency and order picking accuracy while reducing re-stocking time in industrial applications.

This module is especially valuable for operations managing multiple workstations, storage areas, or locations of a SKU. The allocation method always attempts to pick exactly the amount requested from the largest measure quantity available to minimize overages when picking. Storage and retrieval optimization through this advanced order processing module can significantly reduce inventory and improve employee productivity and system throughput for industrial equipment operations.

The order processing module uses a suite of powerful algorithms to perform an analysis of the required quantity of a specific SKU, and then automatically selects the optimal pick location to match the order request. For example, an order is entered into the system for 105 pieces of a particular part. The storage and retrieval system maintains an inventory of that item in 100 piece "Box" measure quantities and individual pieces as "Each" measure quantities. FastPic v4.02 software uses its advanced order allocation method to direct the system to select one box of 100 pieces and 5 individual pieces to make up the order. This reduces restocking time, mis-picks, walk and search time, order re-routing and shortages due to a SKU being depleted in a single area.

FastPic4 software is designed to manage virtually all manual and automated storage and retrieval systems including shelving and racks, pick light systems, horizontal carousels, and vertical storage devices. The software can also manage multiple workzones where several different types of storage and retrieval systems are used in a single operation.

An intuitive graphical user interface logically guides operators through commands to give them better control over both automated and manual picking operations, and improves the functionality and
ease-of-use of upgraded FastPic4 software kitting and receipt processing modules. Dynamic imaging allows users to see and zoom in on actual pictures of inventory items to verify picking.

The Standard Interface Protocol provides an efficient "plug & play" direct link between host systems. With this feature, users can download orders, receipts, and cycle count transactions, and import part and kit numbers.

The software runs on Windows 95, 98, NT, and 2000. It supports any TCP/IP network and is SQL/OBDC enabled for easier, faster database connectivity. Features such as bar code scanning, bulk
storage management, paper pick lists, pick banding, continuous batch picking, and a wide selection of supervisory reports and options are also available.
