Stop Spam-- Aladdin Publishes Spamcatcher Worldwide, #1-Rated Spam Email Filter, With Fingerprinting Technology, Ensures Spam Is Blocked

Award-Winning Anti-Spam Product Blocks 99% Of Unwanted E-mail From Reaching Inboxes

Watsonville, CA, October 14, 2003 -- Aladdin Systems, Inc., an Aladdin Systems Holdings, Inc., company (OTC BB: ALHI), announced SpamCatcher(tm) 3.0, the award-winning Windows(r) spam filter, is now available. Aladdin's SpamCatcher 3.0 is a desktop email filter that users can download to identify and block spam. On the Net: http://aladdinsys.com/win/spamcatcher/index.html

According to a recent survey of 470 network managers, more than 70 percent of respondents considered spam to be a "moderate" or "severe" problem within their organizations. Above and beyond the time employees lose identifying and deleting spam, spam e-mails have become a matter of serious concern to corporations because they increasingly choke network bandwidth.

SpamCatcher transparently integrates with Microsoft Outlook and also works with Exchange, MSN Hotmail (new to this version), and all other POP e-mail clients, including Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger and Eudora. The software takes less than five minutes to set up. Once installed, SpamCatcher assigns emails a SpamScore(tm) from zero to 100 (default is 90). Users control both the filter strength and the way spam is treated. Spam can be placed in its own folder, deleted, or simply marked to avoid.

Outlook users benefit from custom integration in which the Outlook Contacts folder is automatically incorporated into SpamCatcher's approved senders list, and the Outlook junk Senders list is synchronized with SpamCatcher's blocked senders list. In Outlook, spam is filtered to a junk mail folder.

"SpamCatcher has over one million users networked together to provide maximum real-time spam filtering," says Aladdin Systems senior product manager, Pauline Shumake. "SpamCatcher is the easiest and most effective system for keeping spam under control."

SpamCatcher applies four spam detection engines to each incoming message, with each engine applying 1,000 to 100,000 anti-spam rules. The SpamBulk(tm) Engine examines how a message was sent, while the SpamRepute(tm) Engine checks the reputation of the message's sender and point of origination. The SpamContent(tm) Engine scans the messages to determine the content and frequency of key words and phrases, and the SpamTricks(tm) Engine investigates the message's format, to reveal if it was designed in a way to bypass antispam rules or make it economical for spammers to transmit.

SpamCatcher users also have the option of participating in the SpamCatcher Network(tm) for collaborative filtering. The SpamCatcher Network is a real-time online database that anonymously records which emails users mark as spam. Using patent-pending technology, SpamCatcher Fingerprints(tm) every email, and then matches that fingerprint against SpamCatcher's database of millions of emails. If other people have rejected a particular fingerprint as spam, then that evaluation is reflected in the individual user's spam filter. Today over 1,000,000 people actively contribute to the SpamCatcher Network.

The results of all four engines and the SpamCatcher Network Fingerprint, are combined to produce the SpamScore: a single spam probability score. Users can set the score from 1-100 to use for determining whether e-mail is sent to a spam box (or deleted). Customers can opt to receive scheduled or real-time updates.

SpamCatcher automatically updates the spam filter over the Internet, and allows users to receive scheduled or real-time updates. SpamCatcher defaults to hourly updates.

SpamCatcher lets users easily block people, domains, or even whole countries to their "black list." Adding approved email addresses or domains to their "white list," is equally easy. SpamCatcher will import lists of either approved and blocked addresses, and both lists are easily reviewed and edited at any time.

SpamCatcher Options
o Automatically delete messages in the spam folder after a specified number of days.
o Send a "bounce" message in response to spam.
o SpamCatcher learns users' preferences by refining the filters each time users hit the "block" or "approve" buttons for a piece of email.
o Users can automatically import their Address Book into their white list.
o The software offers the one-click ability to add friends or block spammers.

SpamCatcher 3.0 is available at retail, catalog, and online channels for $29.99, with an introductory $10 rebate and introductory competitive upgrade for $19.99.
