Cimatron's New EDM Setup Wizard Automates Electrode Manufacturing Process

Givat Shmuel, ISRAEL, April 30, 2003 - Cimatron Ltd. (NASDAQ: CIMT), a leading developer of CAD/CAM solutions for the tooling industry, today announced the release of its new EDM Setup Wizard designed to further support Cimatron E's automation of the electrode manufacturing process

The EDM Setup Wizard enables the definition of both general and machine-specific parameters for components, electrodes and locations designed using Cimatron's QuickElectrode. QuickElectrode is an innovative application that shortens the electrode process, used for burn area selection, electrode design, management and documentation. The EDM Setup Wizard provides menus to define all relevant EDM process data, including positioning, workpiece, and machining parameters. This data is then output and transferred to any EDM machine supported by the application.

General parameters displayed and handled through the EDM Setup Wizard include: electrode name, material, electrode type (rough, re-rough, finish), orbiting type and size, spark gap, location, burn depth, and burn UCS. Machine-specific parameters displayed and handled by the application depend on the specific EDM machine selected by the user. The application can provide an interface to any additional EDM machine. Currently, Cimatron supports several internationally-acclaimed machine manufacturers, including AGIE, Mitsubishi, and Ingersoll.

Alon Zelzion, VP Marketing of Cimatron, comments, "Time and cost-savings in tool manufacturing requires permanent optimization of machining technologies such as EDM. The combination of Cimatron's QuickElectrode application, EDM Setup Wizard and leading machine manufacturers, supports this goal," he added.
