Software analyzes transactions to isolate bottlenecks.

Press Release Summary:

Tivoli® Monitoring for Transaction Performance v5.3 and v5.3 for z/OS® help users find performance problems before end users are affected. Products measure availability and response time for real and robotic end user for tracking purposes. Optional drill-down capabilities include leveraging other in-depth Tivoli monitoring tools to identify root-cause of performance problems. Software can also identify potential network delays as part of topology view.

Original Press Release:

IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance V5.3 and V5.3 for z/OS Delivers Transaction Analysis to Isolate Bottlenecks and Speed Their Resolution

Overview

Tivoli® Monitoring for Transaction Performance V5.3 and V5.3 for z/OS® (Application Response Measurement (ARM) management agent only on z/OS) are designed to help users:

· Find performance problems before real end users are affected, so actions can be taken to reduce the impact of problems

· Measure availability and response time for the real and robotic end user for tracking purposes

· Isolate the technology component responsible for any delay

· Provide optional drill-down capabilities, including leveraging other in-depth Tivoli monitoring tools to identify the root-cause of a performance problem.

Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance V5.3 enhances the ability to isolate problems by expanding the topology views to include CICS®, IMS(TM), SAP, DB2®, and Web Services. These additions will improve visibility to potential back end problems and Web services based transactions.

In addition, support has been added to collect ARM performance data from any ARM enabled application. Siebel Systems has instrumented their latest release with ARM, which enables Siebel customers to use Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance to manage Siebel environments. The support for industry-standard ARM simplifies performance tuning of Siebel applications, thus enabling proactive performance monitoring, problem detection, and resolution.

There is also the identification of potential network delays as part of the topology view to quickly highlight network issues. In the transaction simulation area a new highly scalable simulation technology has been added to quickly check the availability of a large number of Web sites. The scalable simulation function can pass the ARM correlator so that the transaction path can be identified by the transaction decomposition function in Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance The Rational® Robot function has also been enhanced to improve its ease of use by making ARM calls easier to insert into Rational scripts. The combination of an expanded transaction view, including host, Web Services and network visibility, and the visualization and usability improvements enable more rapid problem detection and isolation.
