Smartphones Learn to Print

With Content Beamer 2.0, users of Smartphones, laptops and PDAs can access any information and print or fax it.

Berlin, October 2003 - Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, New Orleans
At the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in New Orleans at Stand 608 from October 9-11, 2003, ThinPrint GmbH will be presenting the worldwide unique software solution Content Beamer® 2.0, which equips Smartphones, PDAs and Laptops with currently unparalleled functionality for mobile deployment.

This patent pending innovation from the Berlin based software smith lets mobile end devices access any sized files in a corporate network or on the World Wide Web and display the information as text or send it to a printer over infrared or Bluetooth. If no suitable printer is available, the document can also be sent to a fax machine. Although it is possible in this process to download the file, it is as unnecessary as the installation of the document's application on the mobile end device.

How does Content Beamer function? Simple: The mobile device sends a print request to the remote computer. As a rule the document is addressed with a link or selected from the drive directory with a browser. The server opens the document with the relevant application and creates a print job. This is then greatly compressed and sent over optimized bandwidth to the mobile end device. The transmitted data amount is, thanks to .print technology, 10 times smaller than a fax transmission. Once at the mobile end device, the print job - adapted to the device's capabilities - can be displayed or printed from the next available printer.

"With Content Beamer, we enter a new era of mobile communication. Finally, workers are not only reachable with their mobile telephones and PDAs, they are also operational," states Carsten Mickeleit, Managing Director at ThinPrint, about the innovation. "Mobile access to emails and corporate applications offers businesses a tremendous added value, higher productivity, and an important competitive advantage."

Content Beamer 2.0 supports all mobile internet protocols like WAP 1.1., WAP 2.0, and HTML.
