CQUEST Introduces New Source of Sodium Silicate



Conroe, Texas - A new domestic source of sodium silicate is now available through CQUEST. Also known as waterglass, the new sodium silicate liquid is derived from rice hulls, a material rich in silicate. After processing, rice hulls were formerly sent to land disposal. What was once a waste product is now used as a renewable, sustainable feedstock for a high quality product. Compared to conventional sodium silicate production where materials are roasted at very high temperatures, this product is made using a new process that generates far less greenhouse gas and is much more environmentally friendly.

The new plant, located in Stuttgart, AR is uniquely situated to serve key markets. New applications in the Oil and Gas industry and the Construction Industry are of particular note as this new sodium silicate has the ability to displace products that are much harsher on the environment. "This new silicate is a double win for the environment", stated Jay Potter, Marketing Manager for CQUEST. "Not only are we diverting formerly landfilled material to beneficial use, but we're also able to offer a product that leaves a much smaller carbon footprint.
