Samtec recently introduced its new SiliconBlade(TM) socket designed for use with the rugged ultra-small SiliconDrive II USB Blade which is an alternative to SD and MMC Cards.
The lightweight, vertical SBS Series SiliconBlade(TM) Socket offers user-friendly USB Blade insertion and extraction while consuming less PCB space. It features Samtec's rugged, high speed Edge Rate(TM) contact system which is designed for superior impedance control with reduced broadside coupling.
The 40-pin design of the SBS socket provides the power to host the array of interfaces offered by Blade (USB, SD, MMC, SATA, and PCIe). A designer can utilize any of these interfaces simultaneously in one socket.
