Data I/O® Announces High Insertion Socket Adapters(TM)

Redmond, WA, September 10th, 2002 - Data I/O Corporation (NASDAQ: DAIO), the leading provider of manual and automated programming systems, announced today the release of High Insertion Count (HIC) Socket Adapters for ProLINE-RoadRunner(TM) and
PP/PS Automated Programming Systems. High Insertion Count adapters support a variety of Chip-Scale Packages including BGA, micro-BGA, and others. Designed for use in medium to high volume programming applications, HIC adapters deliver the industry's lowest programming cost per device and highest programming yields.

"High Insertion Count Adapters make value flow from raw material through consumption using the fewest resources, including time, people and materials," said Mark Briant, product marketing manager at Data I/O. "Efficiencies are gained through simplified
socket inventory management, lower overall socket costs, reduced scrap costs, less rework and optimized operator utilization through reduced scheduled downtime. The end result is improvcd manufacturing profits for our high volume customers."

Additionally, Data I/O has combined long-life/high-yield programming sockets with statistical monitoring capabilities built into the adapter board. This provides customers with an additional tool to aid in preventative maintenance resulting in higher performing production lines. High Insertion Count Adapters support the principles of lean thinking by reducing non-value-added steps and costs associated with managing and tracking
inventories.
