SMT Insulation Piercing Crimp Terminal accommodates coaxial cable.

Press Release Summary:

Surface Mount Insulation Piercing Crimp Terminal allows termination of RG174/U or RG316/U coaxial cable. Connectors use series of blades oriented to pierce center conductor and outside jacket dielectric materials. While creating electrical connection to both signal wire and braid (ground) in one operation, process eliminates need for additional soldering operations. Housing can be pressed down via hand tool or small press, and terminal suits applications with usable range of up to 3.25 GHz.

Zierick Surface Mount Insulation Piercing Crimp Terminal for Coaxial Cable

Zierick Manufacturing Corporation is pleased to announce an extension of its line of Surface Mount Insulation Piercing Crimp Terminals. This patent pending product allows for termination of RG174/U or RG316/U coaxial cable.

The connectors use a series of blades oriented to pierce the center conductor and outside jacket dielectric materials to create an electrical connection to both the signal wire and braid (ground) in a single operation – eliminating any additional soldering operations.

Zierick offers this product in standard EIA Tape and Reel packaging (Part Number IPC-2-1-T). Insertion requires the outer jacket and braid to be stripped approximately 0.250"/6.35mm. The cable is then inserted into the connector and the housing can be pressed down via a hand tool or small press.

The terminal is perfect for applications with a usable range of up to 3.25 GHz while providing a VSWR of less than 1.5:1 (at 2 GHz) and 1.6:1 (at 3 GHz).
