New HITACHI F8 Ultra High Speed Chip Mounter Races Ahead of the Pack to IPC/APEX 2013 Intro

Dallas, Texas, USA - The Production Systems Division (PSD) of Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc. (HTA) announces the introduction of the new Sigma F8 Ultra High Speed Chip Mounter, the fastest machine on the market in SMT placement per Ft.2 The new Sigma F8 will be burning rubber all the way to IPC/APEX 2013, where this high-throughput, high-accuracy advancement in chip placement technology will be formally introduced in Booth #2440 along with other innovations including a remarkable new self-loading feeder.

The new Sigma F8 Ultra-High-Speed Chip Mounter, rated to have the "Highest speed in its class – worldwide" now joins the G5 in HITACHI's premium Sigma Series high-performance line of modular mounters.

The Sigma F8 is configured with a QUATRO Head (Four-Head Structure) and achieves high-speed One-by-One Pick-up/Placement using HITACHI's unique high speed, high accuracy, direct drive head (DDH). Its component range starts at the bottom with 0402s and boasts a placement accuracy of 3σ: ±36µm, with placement enhanced by closed loop rotary inspection and on the fly component recognition.

"Four DDH heads per module greatly enhance productivity per area, making the Sigma F8 currently the fastest chip mounter on the market. It represents a tremendous productivity value in addition to our Sigma G5C coupled with all the on and offline programming suites we currently offer," Wyglendowski says. He adds that the productivity per area (m2) is the highest available, given the minimal footprint of (mm): L 1,280 x D 2,240 x H 1,450, the similar to the Sigma G5 mounters. The Sigma F8 uses the HITACHI LISA line server software tools through which all process and component placement data can be stored for easy access to all users as well as PCB and component traceability.

Hitachi's new Sigma F8 will be exhibited at IPC APEX 2013 in booth # 2440 and available in Q1 2013.
