Original Press Release:

Enigma Systems Launches the VIP-Smartcard to Secure Pay-Per-View Digital TV Decoders

Enigma Systems is pleased to unveil the VIP-Smartcard® (Versatile Impregnable Perpetual) at the IBC trade show in Amsterdam, September 9-13, 2005. Completely innovative and with perpetual security built-in, the VIP-Smartcard® is a virtual smart card that can be used to secure broadcast of audio and video content. Software-based, it is designed to replace existing smart cards in pay-per-view digital television decoders, and is automatically renewed at the same time the user selects a program.

The VIP-Smartcard® is based on Certex Systems® new software technology and is markedly cheaper than existing smart cards - as well as more secure. This patented device, developed by Enigma Systems, is used to secure the reception of audio and video content in any remote device (TV set, PC, mobile phone, etc.) without altering them materially. Certex Systems software requires no encoding/decoding key or bidirectional transmission channel. The system cannot be attacked as easily as other security systems can be, owing to the fact that it is based on the mathematical principle of "undecidability." Certex Systems® also protects software and content in real-time, which means it renews security as often as needed via executable certificates which invalidate any pirate version on the spot.

The VIP-Smartcard®'s affordability will interest pay-per-view digital television operators wishing to move into emerging markets.

Enigma Systems also markets the VIP-Boxshield® used to secure applications processing content with high market value by any means of transmission (IP, cable, satellite, mobile phone) to all kinds of receiving platforms (decoders, PC, mobile phones, MP3 players, PDAs, etc.).

Enigma Systems will be at the IBC in Amsterdam, September 9 - 13, 2005, Booth 585/1
