CardMan® 6121 - Smart Card Reader Dongle with USB Interface
Walluf, Germany (November 2, 2004) OMNIKEY, the world leading manufacturer of innovative smart card readers, launches its new portable CardMan® 6121 SIM card reader with USB interface at Cartes & IT Security in Paris.
Based on OMNIKEY´s latest chip technology, already successfully employed in the new generation of CardMan® readers, the 6121 supports the highest reader-to-card data transmission rates on the market of up to 420 KBits per second.
The CardMan® 6121 replaces the successful CardMan® 6020. With its new state-of-the-art design, a lot of ideas from the market have been realized. The improved SIM card holder keeps the SIM card totally inside the reader. In addition, the CardMan® 6121 has a key ring on the main body and a protection cap for the USB connector for maximum durability and user convenience.
Suitable for a broad range of current and emerging applications, the miniature smart card reader can be used for downloading GSM applications from the Internet to the SIM card, logical access control, W-LAN, PKI, digital signatures, secure mobile banking and online transactions, loyalty programs and healthcare solutions.
The CardMan® 6121 is CCID-compliant and features a full-speed USB 2.0 interface so that it is easy to use by simply plugging it into the USB port. For a customized look, a company logo or a colorized snap-on cover can easily be added.
Consistent with OMNIKEY's tradition of offering robust, technically superior firmware and driver support, the CardMan® 6121 guarantees the highest level of interoperability available on the market. The reader meets all relevant standards such as ISO 7816, EMV 2000 Level 1 (Europay, MasterCard, Visa), Microsoft WHQL, PC/SC, HBCI (Home Banking Computer Interface), and PC-2001 specifications. Virtually any type of SIM sized smart card available on the market, including microprocessors and memory cards operating at 5, 3, or 1.8 Volts, is supported by the miniature reader.
