Parkinson Technologies Introduces New Tension Control Unit for Dusenbery® Slitter/Rewinders

Model 81 TCU serves as replacement for original units on Dusenbery® Converting Systems

Woonsocket, RI . . . Parkinson Technologies has introduced a new digital tension control unit, the Model 81, which is offered as a replacement for original units on Dusenbery® slitter/rewinders.

The Model 81 replaces older Dusenbery® tension control units (TCU's), including the Model 61 and Model 71 unwind controls, and DEL Slowdown rewind controls. These older controls were custom-designed and featured technology that is now obsolete.

"This new control will provide enhanced capabilities to users of older Dusenbery® Converting Systems," said Joe Connelly, Product Manager at Parkinson Technologies. "It features a PLC with unique programming that takes operator entries for product specifics and processing preferences and continuously calculates the precise machine settings to insure the desired finished package qualities."

In addition to PLC control, the Model 81 TCU features an operator interface screen and recipe storage capabilities, making it easier for operators to store and recall optimal settings. Several of the Model 81 features were based on field-proven control components used by Key Filters, another Parkinson Technologies brand.

"Key Filters uses a combination PLC and operator interface screen on their line of automatic screen changers," said Connelly. "We saw this as a good device to incorporate into the new Model 81 TCU. We regularly share best technology practices throughout our company and this was a good example of that."

Some of the key technology features of the new Model 81 TCU include:

- graphic-friendly HMI display with recipe storage

- simplified calibration and machine-set ups

- compatible with all Dusenbery® machines for fast, easy replacement

The Model 81 units are available now and are designed for easy retrofit in the field. Users of older Dusenbery® slitter/rewinders are encouraged to upgrade to the new TCU's.
