Slide Switch handles frequencies over 30 MHz.
Press Release Summary:
FS High Frequency Slide Switch is rated 0.4 VA max at 28 V ac/dc min. Internal, self-cleaning twin contact mechanism has gold plating which provides stable contact resistance. Incorporation of interior metal wall prevents crosstalk between poles. Terminals, made of copper with gold plating, are straight PC with wrap-around metal housing that protects switch. Switch is suitable for RF and microwave applications.
Original Press Release:
NKK Switches Introduces The First High Frequency Slide Switch for RF and Microwave Industries
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Sept. 4, 2002) - Engineered to meet the design applications of the RF and Microwave industries, NKK Switches has successfully designed the world's first slide switch capable of handling high frequency applications. The FS High Frequency Slide switch meets the demands engineers face with the challenge of delivering highly evolved solutions to the marketplace.
Suited for the wireless, communications, test, measurement and medical industries, NKK's FS series can handle high frequency over 30 MHz and has the added benefit of significant cost savings for any design.
The FS High Frequency Slide switch is a highly reliable and viable solution for engineers involved in the design of high-frequency and high-speed components, systems, sub-systems and test equipment. Moreover, this switch offers an alternative solution to the relay and standard switch. For example, a comparison test between the FS High Frequency slide switch and VHF 2-channel coaxial cable with a normal signal switch resulted in an observable difference in photo clarity. Unlike a normal signal switch, the FS switch provides a barrier against high frequency interference that causes poor quality photo displays.
The FS High Frequency Slide switch is rated 0.4VA maximum @ 28V AC/DC minimum. Its frequency band is DC through 1 GHz, impedance is 75 ohms minimum, insertion loss is 0.5 dB maximum @ 1 GHz and the isolation is 40 dB minimum 8 1 GHz.
The internal contact of the FS series slide switch is a reliable, high-performance, self-cleaning twin contact mechanism with gold plating that provides stable contact resistance. In addition, the incorporation of an interior metal wall prevents crosstalk between poles.
The terminals, made of copper with gold plating, are straight PC with a wrap-around metal housing that protects the switch and offers increased stability. They are molded in with a slight stand off to help prevent the entry of flux and other contaminants.
The FS Series is available with two different actuator heights, 7.4 mm and 12.4 mm, both featuring tactile feedback and a long travel of 3.5 mm. Copper alloy makes up the outer case and LCP resin the inner case. In addition, the switches' operating temperature ranges from -25°C to 70°C (-13°F through 158°F).
A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount witches. The company manufactures more than three million toggle, rocker, pushbutton, slide, rotary, DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches. NKK Switches maintains a complete network of qualified representatives and distributors throughout the United States, Canada, Central and South America, Europe and Asia.
