New SL Photopolymer from Huntsman Advanced Materials Offers ABS-like Performance with Long-term Durability

EAST LANSING, Michigan, July 6, 2005 - A third-generation, white, thermoplastic-like stereolithography (SL) material has been introduced by Huntsman Advanced Materials. New RenShape® SL 7585 photopolymer combines easy processability with robust performance characteristics and long-term durability. The new product is well suited for building accurate master models and prototypes, including parts with snap-fit closures.

RenShape® SL 7585 photopolymer is formulated to release bubbles before processing to increase throughput. The material features the added benefit of changing color; it is clear amber in the vat but turns white as it is exposed to the laser light used in the curing process. Parts built with RenShape® SL 7585 photopolymer are easy to clean and, after a full cure, exhibit physical properties including Shore hardness of 84D, tensile strength of approximately 8,000 psi and notched Izod impact strength of 0.68 ft.-lb./in.

The new product can be used on all solid-state platforms.
