Single-Spindle Turning Center combines rigidity and speed.

Press Release Summary:

Able to work with/without guide bush, EvoDECO series includes 16a and 16e models that accept 2-16 mm dia bar stock. Fully synchronous drives optimize accel/decel, reducing cycle times for parts that require increased stopping. Ten axes + 2 C axes on 16a (8 + 2 on 16e) are managed simultaneously with perfect interpolarity between axes, and 4 independent tool systems on 16a (3 on 16e) allow simultaneous bar and secondary operation work. Machines can go from 0-8,000 rpm in milliseconds.

New Top-of-the-Line Tornos Turning Center Makes Debut at IMTS 2010 Booth # S-8666

EvoDECO single spindle turning center is a major technological development of the Deco platform

Chicago, IL - Based on the Tornos Deco a-line, the new EvoDECO offers the highest possible rigidity and the most powerful spindles on the market today. Fully synchronous drives offer incredible acceleration/deceleration to significantly reduce cycle times for parts that require a lot of stopping. A versatile and affordable machine, the EvoDECO comes well equipped and works with or without a guide bush.

The EvoDECO line, which includes EvoDECO 16a and 16e models, accepts bar stock from 2 to 16mm diameter. Ten axes plus two C axes on the EvoDECO 16a (or 8 + 2 on the EvoDECO 16e) are managed simultaneously with perfect interpolarity between axes. Four independent tool systems on the EvoDECO 16a (three on the EvoDECO 16e) allow simultaneous bar and secondary operation work.

Key to the EvoDECO's success is its "new powered spindle technology" that provides identical front and counter spindles with an increase in power and torque on both - plus a significant reduction in downtime due to stoppage, indexing, acceleration, deceleration which allows the EvoDECO machines to go from 0 - 8,000 rpm in milliseconds. The new spindle technology, with rotational speeds of 12,000 rpm on the main and counter spindles, also eliminates noise and reduces maintenance.

Standard equipment on the EvoDECO includes: an integrated chiller unit, rotating guide bush and tool motors, C1 + C4 axes, interpolation in polar coordinates, clamping force fine adjustment, pneumatic workpiece ejector, collet cleaning with oil, automatic centralized lubrication cycle, cooling pump with self-cleaning filter, timer for preheating cutting oil, feeder and connecting tube interface, and TB-DECO + ADV programming software on a Fanuc 16i TB control.

The new EvoDECO single spindle lathe will be unveiled at IMTS 2010, September 13-18, at McCormick Place in Chicago, booth S-8666 along with eight other machines. For a complete line up and announcement about Tornos IMTS events, please visit the Tornos Showroom at imts.com.
