Single Rod Limit Switch is used in bulk solids.

Press Release Summary:

Soliphant T FTM 20/21 detects level limit in fine- or coarse-grained, non-fluidized bulk solids with grain size up to 1 in. Tilted piezo drive, located inside tip of sensor rod, does not contact medium. Mechanically balanced design maximizes resistance to vibration and build-up, resulting in minimal false trips. Permissible process temperature ranges up to 300°F, and process pressure ranges from -14.5 to 362 psi.

Announcing New Single Rod Limit Switch for Bulk Solids

Price-effective sensor for level limit detection

May 25, 2005, Greenwood, Indiana - Endress+Hauser, Inc. introduces the new Soliphant T FTM 20/21, a unique single rod limit switch. Soliphant T is a robust point level switch for fine-grained or coarse-grained, non-fluidized bulk solids.

The SOLIPHANT line has been known for reliability and robustness for decades - these features also apply to the new Soliphant T FTM20/21. There are many single rod sensors in the market but no other offers a new tilted piezo drive located inside the tip of the sensor rod. This safeguards Soliphant T's unique performance. Soliphant T is mechanically balanced resulting in higher resistance vibration and build-up. This results in fewer false trips.

Decoupling the process connection from the oscillating movement makes the sensor insensitive to external vibration and secures reliable measurement results. The drive is not in contact with the medium which makes it less sensitive to lateral loads and temperature fluctuations. Soliphant T FTM20/21 is a cost-effective sensor for level limit detection in bulk solids up to a grain size of 1" (25 mm). It is available as FTM20 in compact design and as FTM21 with tube extension (20", 40", and 60"). The permissible process temperature ranges up to 300°F (150 °C) and the process pressure ranges from -14.5 to 362psi (-1 to 25bar).

The main applications for Soliphant T are in the primary industries and particularly those involving powdery to coarse-grained bulk solids of all kinds starting with a density of 12.5lb/ft3 (200 g/l). Soliphant T provides safe measurement results even in lumpy or moist media since bridging is not an issue for the single rod probe. With the extensive Soliphant family Endress+Hauser is well prepared for present and future requirements of our customers and their applications.

The Endress+Hauser Group

The Endress+Hauser Group is a global leader in the provision of measurement instrumentation and automation solutions for industrial process engineering. The company is a Swiss family business and consists of a network of legally independent companies, managed and coordinated by a holding company in Reinach, Switzerland. The group comprises 72 companies in 37 countries, which operate 19 production centers in Switzerland, Germany, France, the UK, Italy, China, Japan, India and the USA. At the end of 2003, Endress+Hauser employed 6,077 people, generating 976.9 million in sales and a profit of 48.1 million. The company's growth is due to a culture of innovation - in 2003, Endress+Hauser took out a patent for 157 innovations.

With a wide range of sensors, instruments, systems and services, Endress+Hauser covers the areas of level, flow, pressure, temperature, analysis and recording. The range also includes the connection of field appliances to mainframe processing systems using fieldbuses and automation and logistical solutions. The products manufactured by Endress+Hauser set the standard in reliability, availability, quality and technology. Customers come primarily from the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, water & wastewater, paper, energy and oil & gas sectors. They optimize their process engineering procedures with support from Endress+Hauser while taking into consideration environmental protection, safety and economic efficiency.

Endress+Hauser was founded in 1953 by Georg H. Endress and Ludwig Hauser. Since 1975, the Endress family has had sole ownership of the Group. In 1995, Klaus Endress took over the management of the Group from his father. In more than 50 years since its foundation, the company has developed organically from being 'specialists in level measurement' to 'providers of complete solutions for industrial measuring technology and automation'. As well as adding innovative products and services to extend the range, new markets have been continually opened up. Competent employees and partners guarantee sales and quality service in every country.
