PhihongUSA Single-Port Gigabit Extender Doubles Cabling Reach for PoE

PoE extender accepts higher input current than traditional .AF devices...

LAS VEGAS, N.V. (May 19, 2009)- PhihongUSA, a global leader in Power-over-Ethernet midspan solutions, has developed a single-port, Gigabit PoE extender that accepts high power POE from IEEE802.3at or pre-standard higher power POE solutions. Designated the POE16S-1AF, the 10/100/1000 base T switch extends the reach of data and Power-over-Ethernet to 200 meters, doubling the cabling distance available for remotely powering security cameras, wireless network and access controllers.

"The major benefit of Power-over-Ethernet is that it allows users to easily run power to locations that would otherwise require extensive wiring and high labor costs," said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for PhihongUSA. "This new single-port extender delivers the Ethernet at double the distance than was previously available, offering greater installation flexibility and increased savings."

The POE16S-1AF accepts power from IEEE802.3at Layer 1 classification or other prestandard Phihong POE Plus midspans. The POE voltage is then boosted back up to 56V with full IEEE802.3af detection and disconnect.

PhihongUSA's single-port Gigabit PoE extender is designed for use within a temperature range of 0°to 55°C.
