Single-Loop Controllers work with Ethernet and Modbus.

Press Release Summary:

Integrating operation unit into control unit, YS1000 Series performs process control operations such as temperature compensation and pressure compensation for specific control loop. Units include color LCD that can display message informing plant operator that alarm has been triggered. Widely used as backups in distributed control systems and in control of boilers and other utilities, controllers are suited for petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, and other process industries.

Yokogawa To Launch Sale Of New YS1000 Series Single-Loop Controllers

Yokogawa Electric Corporation has developed the YS1000 series of single-loop controllers. These new products offer improved connectivity with supervisory control systems and incorporate new, enhanced features that help operators work more efficiently. The YS1000 series will be released for sale in January 2007.

Single-loop controllers are control systems that integrate an operation unit into a control unit and perform process control operations such as temperature compensation and pressure compensation for a specific control loop*. They are widely used as backups in distributed control systems (for large processes) and in the control of boilers and other utilities.

* A control loop is a unit in process control and is comprised of a sensor, transmitter, controller, and operator terminal that carry out the production control process in sequence.

Development Background
To improve profitability, the petroleum, chemical, and other process industries must maintain or increase the operation rates for their production processes as well as plant utilities, and reduce the costs of plant operation and system construction.
Accordingly, the control systems for these facilities must not only be highly reliable, but also help increase engineering efficiency and facilitate the work of plant operators.

Our YS80/100 series single-loop controllers are also highly reliable and have been selling well for use in distributed control system backup and utility control. Yokogawa has now added to this product lineup the YS1000 series to address user needs for better connectivity with supervisory control systems and improved access to process information.

Product Features
Improved Connectivity with Supervisory Control Systems
While its predecessors use Yokogawa's own communication protocol for connection with PCs and supervisory control systems, the YS1000 series can be used with general-use communication protocols such as Ethernet and Modbus, adding flexibility to system construction.

Enhanced Display
The YS1000's new color LCD can display a message informing the plant operator that an alarm has been triggered. The improved visual display of such information helps operators reduce errors.

Compact and Light
The YS1000 has a depth of 25 cm, 7 cm less than the preceding model, and weighs just 1.6 kg, 40% lighter than the previous model. This allows a smaller control board, thereby decreasing the cost of system construction.

Major Target Markets
Petroleum, petrochemicals, chemicals, other process industries

Applications
Operation and control of production and utilities
