SX25 Single-Loop Controller Is Easily Configured And Flexible
BLYTHEWOOD, SC - Spirax Sarco, Inc., offers the SX25 Single-Loop Controller for heating, flow control, diverting and similar applications. This PID-type unit is flexible and easy to configure and tune. Two models are available, the SX25 MA (one 4-20 mA output) and the SX25 VMD (with integral valve motor drive output). The SX25 MA incorporates a 25V internal power supply for generating a 4-20 mA loop input from sensors lacking their own power supplies.
The SX25 Controllers can be used with either electric or pneumatic control valve actuators. Control variables may be temperature, pressure, level, differential or flow. Inputs may be RTD Pt100, thermocouple, two-wire transducer or any linear 4-20 mA or mV signal. In addition to manual PID tuning, the SX25 offers autotuning, with a choice of step response or natural frequency methods. An adaptive tuning function monitors the process conditions and modifies the PID parameters as required for optimal stability. The unit features an overshoot control function that slows down response near the setpoint to prevent exceeding the set limit. There is also a soft start function with user-specified percent-open and time delay settings to avoid waterhammer or hydraulic shock upon valve opening.
Input power is 100-240 VAC. The housing is a panel mounted 1/16 DIN form factor with IP65 and NEMA Type 13 enclosure ratings. Ambient temperature rating is 0-50°C (32-122°F). Configuration is done by a four-button, front-mounted keypad with two-line display showing measured value and set point.
