Single Cylinder Precrusher Series meet or exceed current ANSI Z245.2 safety standards.

Press Release Summary:

Capable of crushing/compacting capacities upwards of 300 cu.yds/hour and compaction forces well over 160,000 lbs., the Precrusher Series PC-3001, PC-4001 and PC-6001 are designed for lighter duty compaction applications. Units are suitable for volume capacity ranging from  179 to 212 cubic yards in compaction mode, and from 135 to 179 cubic yards in pre-crusher mode. All models include up to 8 pre-crush cycles, pre-crusher or compactor-only modes, and AISI grade steel and structural steel reinforcements. 100-gallon oil reservoirs and 30 GPM pumps are included in each unit. All products meet or exceed current ANSI Z245.2 safety standards.

SP Industries Introduces New Single Cylinder Precrusher Series: Powerful Features Designed for Lighter-Duty Industrial Operations

HOPKINS, MI – SP Industries’ Precrushers are heavy-duty compacting machine with crushing/compacting capacities upwards of 300 cu.yds/hour and compaction forces well over 160,000 lbs. However, many manufacturing and processing facilities don’t need this level of volume and force to handle the refuse and reclaim materials they process in their end-stream operations. To address this need, SP Industries developed the new PC-3001 through PC-6001 Precrusher Series. This new series features the same footprint and processing controls as the company’s max-duty heavy industrial models with a more economical single-cylinder design tailored specifically for lighter duty waste streams with lower compaction force requirements.

Designed for lower volume industrial and smaller product destruction applications, the PC-3001, PC-4001 and PC-6001 can be operated in either precrusher or compactor-only mode. Up to 8 precrush cycles can be programmed to allow maximum breakdown of materials that are difficult to compact. The compactor-only mode is used when reduced cycle time and/or increased throughput of refuse into the compaction container is desired. For all sizes in the new series, the seamlessly integrated unit design provides maximum strength and integrity. Most notably, the precrusher gate is not an “add-on” to a standard compactor, as is frequently done by others in the industry. All units are constructed of AISI grade steel and structural steel reinforcements. All units meet or exceed current ANSI Z245.2 safety standards for compaction equipment.

The series is offered with 3, 4 or 6 cubic yard capacities. In compaction-only mode, the per hour volume capacity ranges from 179 to 212 cubic yards. In precrushing mode, volume ranges from 135 to 179 cubic yards. The clear top opening is approximately 48” x 57” on the smallest unit up to 88” x 57” on the largest model. All size units provide 69,300 lb. normal and 88,000 lb. maximum packing force. The remote hydraulic power unit included with each unit comes with a 100 gallon oil reservoir and a 30 GPM pump powered by a 25 HP 230/460 3 phase motor.

Like all SP Industries’ compactor/precrusher equipment, these systems are readily tailored to the specific environmental and installation requirements of the application, including appropriate loading platforms and ramps, hoppers, gates, chutes, and access panels. Accompanying waste material containers can also be fabricated to accommodate the desired means of transport, weight of compacted materials and any other customer requirements.

ABOUT SP INDUSTRIES

SP Industries was established as a manufacturing facility in 1957, initially operating as Quality Steel Fabrication. As the name implies, the company specialized in custom fabrication, working with such companies as Caterpillar Tractor, GMC, Excello Corp. and Lockheed Manufacturing, among many others. The company also built compactor rams and frames for Spartan Waste-Pac, the original designer, patentee and manufacturer of refuse reduction equipment. After several changes in ownership, the key long-term employees created a new company, SP Industries Inc., that has maintained its position as the leading waste handling equipment manufacturer in the world. The company specializes in waste handling compaction and dumper systems tailored to the specific requirements of diverse industral and commercial applications.
