Single-Channel Receivers support 30-55 ohm line impedance.

Press Release Summary:

With clock frequencies to 125 MHz and signaling rates up to 250 Mbps, type-1 Model SN65MLVD2 provides optimal noise margin with switching occurring near zero volt input level, while type-2 Model SN65MLVD3 offers built-in failsafe protection and eliminates need for external pull-up/down resistors. Multipoint-LVDS receivers feature wide common-mode Vin range from -1 to 3.4 V, allowing up to 2 V of ground noise. Bus-pin HBM ESD protection exceeds 9 kV.

Original Press Release:

TI Introduces Multipoint-LVDS Single-Channel Receivers

DALLAS (Jan. 31, 2007) - Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today introduced the industry's first dedicated multipoint-LVDS (M-LVDS) receivers. To date, customers converting M-LVDS to LVTLL for multi-drop clock distribution have used transceivers with unnecessary integrated driver circuitry. The new single-channel receivers save space, power consumption and cost in end equipment such as cellular base stations, central office switches, network switches, routers and AdvancedTCA® systems. The devices provide better technical performance in applications such as clock and synchronization distribution and control, as well as data signal transfer over backplanes and cables. For more information see www.ti.com/sc07017.

The SN65MLVD2 type-1 M-LVDS receiver provides the best noise margin with switching occurring near the zero volt (differential) input level. The SN65MLVD3 type-2 M-LVDS receiver provides built-in failsafe protection and eliminates the need for external pull-up/down resistors. Other key features include:
o Clock frequencies up to 125 MHz
o Signaling rates up to 250 Mbps
o Supports 30-ohms to 55-ohms line impedances
o SN65MLVD2 type-1 receive with 25 mV of input threshold hysteresis to prevent output ringing
o SN65MLVD3 type-2 receive with 100 mV offset threshold to detect open-circuit and idle-bus conditions
o Wide receiver common-mode Vin range, -1 V to 3.4 V allowing up to 2 V of ground noise
o Meets or exceeds the M-LVDS standard TIA/EIA-899 for multipoint topology
o High input impedance with low Vcc
o Bus-pin HBM ESD protection exceeds 9 kV

The addition of the SN65MLVD2 and SN65MLVD3 complements Texas Instruments' M-LVDS family of products including transceivers, drivers, receivers and clock fan-out buffers. Texas Instruments' interface IC offering for telecommunications also includes LVDS, PECL, RS-485, PCI-Express and gigabit Ethernet serializers and deserializers (SerDes). Please see the new Interface Selection Guide for more information at interface.ti.com.

Availability and Pricing
Both the SN65MLVD2 and SN65MLVD3 are available in volume quantities from TI and its authorized distributors packaged in 8-pin small outline package (DRB). Suggested resale pricing in 1,000-piece quantities is $1.45 each for both the SN65MLVD2 and SN65MLVD3.
