Single Board Computers can be used with passive backplanes.

Press Release Summary:

Designed for industrial data collection, CPWG series dual-processor single-board computers have bus speeds up to 100 MHz and Pentium III CPU speeds up to 800 MHz. They are built to PICMG standards, and interface with both 32-bit PCI cards and 16-bit ISA cards. CPWG computers support 4 DIMMs for up to 1GB of dynamic memory. Intel® 440BX chipset integrates floppy controller with 2 serial ports, 1 infrared port, and 1 parallel port.

Double Your Processing Power with Dual CPU's

Now the full power of Pentium III(r) architecture is available for industrial and scientific data collection. The CPWG series of dual-processor single-board computers from CyberResearch, Inc., is ideal for high-performance engineering systems that demand high data throughput.

Large-scale data-gathering and motion-control applications demand that high volumes of precision data be gathered and processed rapidly. That's why we developed the CyberResearch(tm) CPWG series of single-board computers. With bus speeds up to 100
MHz and Pentium III CPU speeds up to 800 MHz, these computers ensure the integrity of data from a wide variety of A/D, DIO, RS-232, and RS-422/485 sources.

In less demanding applications, the single-board computers can be fitted with low-profile Socket 370 700-MHz CPUs. If costs are critical, the boards can also be fitted with Celeron(r) CPUs running at 600 MHZ or 533 MHz. The dual-processor boards are built to PICMG standards, so they can be used with passive backplanes that easily interface with both 32-bit PCI cards and 16-bit ISA cards.

Our CPWG single-board computers support 4 DIMMs for up to 1GB of dynamic memory. A high-performance Intel(r) 440BX chipset integrates the floppy controller with two serial ports, one infrared port, and one parallel port. High-speed 16C550 UARTs
provide 128-bit (16-byte) send and receive FIFO buffers. The multimode parallel port supports SPP, EPP, and ECP functions. Two USB ports on each card's bracket facilitate high-speed data communications. An on-board Intel RJ-45 LAN connector interfaces
with both 10BaseT and l00BaseT Ethernet LANs.

The highly integrated low-profile Socket 370 Pentium III and Celeron processors take up less room and block fewer slots than do CPUs in earlier designs. Socket 370 CPUs also boost reliability with excellent shock and vibration resistance.
