Original Press Release:

Low-Cost Single-Board Computer Designed for High-Volume OEM Applications

Davis, Calif., January 17, 2002 - The OEM2500 Coyote single-board computer provides OEM designers extremely low-cost embedded control for high volume applications. Starting at just $69 and $99 with Ethernet (qty. 500), the OEM2500 offers multiple options for built-to-suit custom orders to lower OEM product costs.

Two standard models are available-one with Ethernet, one without. The Coyote can be customized to user-specified configurations when manufactured in volume orders (> 500). Various combinations of features are available for memory, 10Base-T or 10/100Base-T Ethernet, digital I/O, serial ports, LEDs and onboard backup battery. The BL2500 Coyote models are offered for quantities fewer than 500.

The Coyote features the Rabbit 3000(TM) microprocessor at 29.4 MHz, 256K Flash and 128K SRAM, 5 serial ports, 16 rugged l/O (plus 1 A/D input and 2 D/A outputs), 4 LEDs, and 10 timers. The Coyote is designed for control and data acquisition of a broad array of industrial applications such as OEM products, equipment, and robotic systems. All Coyotes come standard with industrial Molex®-type connectors for rapid production in an assembly process.

The Ethernet option offering 10Base-T or a 10/100Base-T upgrade (at 44.2 MHz) is ideal where a rugged board with low-cost Ethernet connectivity is required. The Ethernet interface is fully supported by a royalty-free TCP/IP stack to allow easy programming, data acquisition, and control of applications with LAN/WAN or from anywhere in the world via Internet.

Programs are developed for the OEM2500 using Z World's industry-proven Dynamic C® software development system. An extensive library of drivers and demo programs is also provided. All Coyotes can be programmed and debugged over Ethernet/Internet using appropriate accessory hardware.

Low-cost development kits, available from $299, contain all the hardware and software tools needed to jumpstart design, including BL2500, demonstration board, Dynamic C SE development software and documentation on CD-ROM, user's manual with schematics, serial cable for programming and debugging, AC adapter (US/Canada only), and Molex®-style crimp pins & housings (Standard crimping tool sold separately).
